(BNI), Bechtel's government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. Bechtel currently manages the Mobile Launcher 2 project in Cape Canaveral, FL. This project is the design and construction of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) for the Space Launch System (SLS). The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. Job Summary: Act in a Deputy role to Engineering Group Supervisor and assist as directed for: * Supervisory/design over-site role and review complex structural engineering deliverables, such as structural steel calculations, structural drawings, specifications, material requisitions, architectural deliverables, supplier drawings and data, etc. * Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of structural and architectural work. * Monitor and ensure compliance with project budgets, schedules, and engineering deliverables. * Coordinate and integrate design work between structural/architectural discipline and other disciplines. * Preparation involvement/review of procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform associated technical bid evaluations and award recommendations. * Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction. * Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues. * Manage specifically assigned project activities. * Support construction by over-site of dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports. * Lead technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc. * Assist in constructability reviews. * Participate in and foster a work environment that is based on openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and job satisfaction. Basic Qualifications * BS in structural/civil engineering from an accredited university or college, and 9 years of progressive related experience. * BS/MS should emphasize structural analysis and design of steel structures. * Have a U.S. Professional Engineering (PE) license. * Demonstrated supervisory experience. * Must be a U.S. Citizen. Minimum Qualifications * Work experience for BS/MS should be directly related to the detailed design of steel structures. * Ability to express complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally. * Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex structures. * Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and MathCad. * Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on project. * Proficient in the use of structural analysis software GTSTRUDL, ANSYS, or NASTRAN. * Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Construction Manual, ASCE 7, and IBC codes. * Working knowledge of dynamic analysis techniques of response spectrum analysis and/or time-history analysis. * Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client. * Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Preferred Qualifications * Knowledgeable in the principles of Systems Engineering. * Experience with CADD applications, such as AutoCad. * Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence. * Experience with methods of construction for steel structures. * Willingness to relocate after assignment completion.
