SCOPE:

  • AMD is seeking a hands-on team oriented ESD design expert with knowledge of high-speed SerDes and analog/mixed-signal IP design

  • In this cross-functional role, the expert will be responsible for the design and validation of ESD circuits, physical layout, test chip, and product implementation in a wide variety of IPs and SOCs, and in the latest generation of FinFET technologies

  • We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced engineer who will take on a leadership role and work closely with global design teams across multiple product lines, 3rd party IP providers, test teams, and validation teams, as well as directly with customers regarding any ESD related issues

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design of ESD structures in various process technologies

  • Work with foundry partners and foundry interface teams on device characteristics, optimization and innovation as pertaining to ESD performance

  • Perform ESD related analysis, validation, and debugging, at IP, SOC and System levels

  • Interface with customers to address ESD related issues

  • Provide ESD IP, ESD design guidelines and checklists to ensure first time silicon success

  • Provide strategy, planning and structures for evaluation of ESD performance in test chips prior to product deployment

  • Work closely with design teams to generate, qualify, and deliver ESD cell libraries

  • Work closely with, and offer ESD technical advice to, design teams across multiple product lines

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate should be proficient in ESD devices and circuits

  • Excellent in communicating technical details to internal and external customer teams

  • Track record of initiative and innovation in her or his previous experience, including proven track record of ESD performance on silicon in volume production

  • Exceptional interpersonal, time management and communication skills are critical for working with all product development groups as well as customers

  • Knowledge of physics of semiconductor devices, ESD devices, semiconductor processing

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of physical layout and its effects on ESD

  • Thorough understanding of ESD standards for component (HBM/CDM/MM) and system level testing and test equipment

  • Occasional travel will be required

EDUCATION:

  • BSEE or advanced degree, with at least 10 years of industry experience in ESD device and circuit design
