Salesforce's Employee Success (ES) function is looking to support the development & transformation of our data product footprint from our People Insights & Data Intelligence team. A key pillar to this expansion is the development of a strong data foundation to support all of our core People Analytics needs across the ES landscape!
We're looking for an experienced data engineer to build data pipelines, metrics, and other products across all ES organizations. In this role, you will work with business partners across ES functions to understand business needs, translate them to technical requirements, wrangle data from various systems, and design automated data pipelines to drive insights. You will work with internal technology groups to automate the data collection and definition process. You will act as a senior advisor on all things data for leaders across the ES landscape, and be a trusted go-to person for solving day-to-day people analytics problems.
For this role - experience in People Analytics is a must. The right candidate will have full-proficiency over data architecture, ETL methodologies, SQL, and a proven track record working with ES & Enterprise metrics. The candidate will also have strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, expertise building repeatable data engineering processes, strong project management skills, and a vision for how to deliver ES data products. The candidate will have deep expertise in working across the People Analytics ecosystem, have a strong understanding of ES Metrics, and must have experience working with HR partners directly.
Responsibilities
Actively develop, enhance and maintain data pipelines and workflows for marketing data and metrics.
Work with ES teams across the organization and build data metric requirements, build quick POC's, document functional and technical requirements.
Develop ETL pipelines from a variety of ES and other Enterprise systems
Maintaining, deploying and code versioning the ETL process.
Help in building POC solutions for new ES metrics & Data Products
Design & develop easy, repeatable and reusable automation data frameworks.
Responsible for end-to-end data management activities, including but not limited to identify fields, data lineage and integration, performing data quality checks, analysis and presenting data.
Lead the continued development of the People Data Warehouse and overall Solution Architecture.
Evaluate, determine root cause, and resolve critical issues.
Collaborate with data scientists to support data needs and develop scalable architecture to deploy models.
Work and collaborate with global teams across North America, EMEA and APAC.
Mentor Junior Engineers from both a technical and business standpoint
Advise leaders on standard processes around ES data usage and product development
Required Skills/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related subject area, with 10+ years related information systems experience in a data engineering, data modeling, automation and analytics. People Analytics experience preferable.
Proficiency in understanding key HR metrics (e.g. headcount, attrition, etc.) and ability to derive new metrics with little guidance from collaborators
Proficiency with SQL, Bash and Python scripting is a must.
Proficiency using orchestration software like Apache Airflow is a must.
Experience with AWS technologies like ECS, Aurora, Lambda, S3, and Sagemaker is a must.
Proficiency in foundational data warehousing concepts and data modeling
Ability to interface across various technologies through API's
Experience using Snowflake and similar centralized data platforms
Full proficiency of data engineering concepts, database designs ,associated tools, system components, internal processes and architecture. .
Experience working as a technical lead/solution architect in a stakeholder-focused team
Experience working closely with Analytics/Data Science teams
Team-first mentality. Excellent interpersonal skills in order to build strong relationships that will be critical for the success in this role.
Must be able to proactively communicate status and identify risks
Self-starter, highly motivated, able to shift directions quickly when priorities change, think through problems to come up with innovative solutions and deliver against tight deadlines.
Must be results oriented and able to move forward without complete information and with minimal supervision
Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau is a plus.
Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams preferred.
Experience with Human Resources technology and work is a plus.
