Apply the principles of the nursing process within the policies and procedures of the Patient Care Services Department.
As the primary nurse, manage overall nursing care to ensure competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission to discharge.
Assure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients while performing disease prevention and restorative measures.
Respond to medical and environmental emergencies efficiently and competently.
Provide competent and compassionate patient care in accordance with hospital policies, scientific principles, sound nursing practices, and standards of care.
Plan and coordinate the delivery of care to maximize efficiency, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and hygiene.
Set priorities and provide patient care in both routine and complex situations.
Serve as a liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.
Coordinate the involvement of patients, physicians, families, and other health team members to manage patient care and resources.
Exercise clinical judgment and critical thinking in all aspects of the nursing process and unit activities.
Administer treatments and medications efficiently.
Maintain current knowledge of patient care status and monitor patients' perceptions of care through clinical rounds.
Assure physicians are informed of significant changes in patients' conditions.
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families, considering biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors.
Ensure the nursing process is carried out on an individualized goal-directed basis to meet all patient needs.
Observe patients' physical conditions and behaviors, interpret information, and ensure patient acuity levels are documented.
Identify, observe, and monitor patients at risk for untoward events and implement precautions to reduce risks.
Develop and implement care plans as it relates to biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge needs in collaboration with patients and families.
Document and communicate patient assessments, care plans, outcomes, and other pertinent information with health team members.
Evaluate and re-evaluate the effectiveness of care plans through observation and communication.
