This job is primarily responsible for maintaining the organization's application, web, and database services to ensure performance and stability of business applications. This job will work independently and may require general direction from experienced IT Programmers and/or System Administrators. Incumbents will demonstrate aptitude and progress towards learning application and/or coding patterns and implementing changes/patterns into application and/or code base.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of application dependencies, workflows, integrations, and processes surrounding application.

  • Monitor application, web, and database servers and detect patterns related to performance; reporting issues with database server to ensure timely fix.

  • Maintain web sites requiring periodic changes.

  • Maintain Windows services including scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting.

  • Transmit and receive files and tables to and from 3rd parties.

  • Archive and store files and reports for business users.

  • Elevate code to test and production environments.

  • Upload files to web sites.

  • Deploy/Elevate changes to SQL databases with the permission and assistance of the DBA or system administrator.

  • Run update queries after changes are deployed to production databases if needed as directed.

  • Run standalone programs to complete business data processes.

  • Provide tier-1 end-user support

  • Develop and maintain documented code base and/or system documentation and logs

  • Other duties as assigned.

Here's what you'll need to be considered:

  • Required -- Bachelor's degree in computer related field, or equivalent experience and training.

  • Required -- None

  • Preferred -- Experience on Agile Development Projects; industry specific experience.

  • Working knowledge of SQL, database servers, and Windows servicing.

  • Knowledge appropriate to perform job.

  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.

  • Effective listening skills with ability to interpret and share information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, and manage multiple demands while staying within established timelines.

  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours to provide support based on assignments and projects.

  • Ability to participate in on call rotation.

Here's some additional things you need to know:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

  • Travel, travel for project work, meetings and trainings will be less than 5% of the employee's total work days.

This electronic equipment includes but not limited to radars, gyros, radios, DP system, GMDSS, AISS, GPS, LRIT, CyScan, Fanbeam, InmarsatC, PLC's, VFDs, Propulsion Control systems, and vessel monitoring systems. SCOPE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Troubleshoots and repairs vessel electronic systems using detailed electronic systems understanding. * Identifies parts that need to be replaced, opens work orders, issues purchase orders, and places orders for parts or repair services as necessary. * Interprets technical drawings, electrical schematics, and other technical documents to determine appropriate repair parts and procedures. Operates and inspects completed work to determine repair success. * Executes all tasks with all prescribed safety equipment in place and on person using applicable OSHA rules. * Creates and understands Job Safety Analysis (JSA) actions for each job performed internally as well as by vendors or vessel crew. * Works with Lead Electronic Technician to safely repair and maintain vessel electronic equipment at peak performance for maximum availability and efficiency. * Works with Operations Managers and vessel crews to schedule troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment. * Works with vendors on contract work to verify repair is complete and to company's satisfaction if required. * Coordinates all aspects of the job that is assigned by the Lead Electronic Technician. This includes procuring parts, appropriate tools, equipment, and supplies required for troubleshooting and repairing the vessel electronic equipment. * Instructs vessel crews on basic troubleshooting and repair procedures needed to identify and repair problems if needed. * Other duties as assigned by management. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Education: High school diploma or equivalent * Experience: Five (5) years of electronic repair related experience or training. * Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including "Windows" operating systems, Word and Excel. Demonstrates efficient job planning and time scheduling. Ability to get along well with others. * Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid US driver's license, insurance, and TWIC card. Must be possess or obtain a passport for international travel and must be willing to travel internationally. Must possess or be capable of obtaining a FCC GROL license with radar endorsement. Must possess or be able to obtain a GMDSS Maintainer License. * Must be willing to board and ride vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business.
