Moog, Inc. is hiring for an IT Project Manager in East Aurora, NY. You will provide management and direction for projects and programs, ensuring that customer expectations and business value are delivered as per the business case. A PM provides an advanced level of project management practices and acts as a subject matter expert to all stakeholders associated with a project, helping understanding of the benefits of those practices and how they can be achieved.
PM's at Moog have an operational role focus. The PM has a job activity mix that is typically 10% strategic, 70% operational and 20% administrative. The working time-frame for tasks performed by a PM is usually measured in months.
A PM is in a position that has global locational/functional diversity, and the interactions are usually technical, business and operational in nature. They must be excellent at listening, giving and receiving instructions, asking questions, and seeking clarification. Outside of IT, the PM maintains relationships both giving and receiving information with key suppliers and customers, and has occasional interaction with users at all levels, including managers and executives. Inside of IT, the PM has strong relationships across the entire organization, including managers, analysts, programmers, operators, and others.
Judgments made by a PM are a primary role responsibility. These include escalation, prioritization, interdependency decisions, but generally don't include policy or other strategic decisions. Their work has a high degree of both technical and abstract complexity. The variety of their work usually requires the PM to focus on multiple work areas at once, both within and across projects. The PM has their work reviewed on a scheduled basis, usually as part of various phases of an IT project.
Some of your day to day responsibilities will be
Delivery of large, complex projects in support of planned business value benefits.
Provision of advanced knowledge in the area of project and program management to Moog management both within and outside IT, including development and application of Moog standards for structured project and change management processes.
Management of customer expectations of projects, in areas of schedule, costs, quality, scope, risk and benefits.
Efficient utilization of Moog resources in support of strategic business initiatives through planning and time management activities.
Applying learning and experience to all but the most difficult business and technical challenges requiring project management expertise, by use of advanced problem solving and people management skills.
Provision of effective liaison between Moog and external vendors
Bachelor of Science (BS) in a technical discipline, with a minimum of 6 years progressive experience in project management
Experience leading large ERP projects, preferably SAP
Formal project management certification from a professional body.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to listen, question and understand end users' needs
Advanced level of business acumen
