Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team:The Berkley Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team comprises catastrophe and ERM professionals responsible for identifying potential risks to Berkley, collating and analyzing data related to those risks, and reporting on risk-related matters.

Responsibilities

The Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across a range of disciplines in corporate as well as colleagues from both domestic and international operating companies. Key responsibilities include:

Cyber, Climate Change and Other Emerging Risks

  • Assist with monitoring our cyber insurance exposures Perform cyber catastrophe analysis using scenarios and catastrophe models Assist with research and monitoring of emerging risks, such as climate change, including their impact on both property and casualty lines of business, the investment portfolio and the operational aspect of our businesses

Risk Assessment and Reporting

  • Perform calculation and sensitivity testing of our risk capital and prospective solvency assessment Assist in implementation and maintenance of the risk assessment processes across our domestic and international operating companies Assist in production of quarterly and annual ERM reports for senior management as well as for rating agencies and regulators Assist with automation and management of key risk processes and projects

Catastrophe Modeling and Analysis

  • Assist with monitoring and measuring casualty accumulations through collating and analyzing both company and industry data Assist with development and improvement of casualty catastrophe scenarios Analyze reinsurance structure that protects our property and casualty catastrophe exposures

Qualifications

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in STEM, Actuarial or other relevant fields; GPA 3.7+ a plus

  • Must have 2+ years of experience in the property/casualty (re)insurance industry

  • With 3+ actuarial exams passed a plus

  • Strong data and statistical analysis skills:

  • Proficient in examining both quantitative and qualitative data

  • Strong Excel required

  • Master at least one tool or programming language commonly used for analytics and data visualization (e.g., SQL, R, Python, DAX, Power BI, etc.)

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team: Our key risk management aim is to maximize Berkley's return on capital over the long term for an acceptable level of risk. This requires regular interaction with senior management both in corporate and our operating companies. The Berkley Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team comprises catastrophe and ERM professionals responsible for identifying potential risks to Berkley, collating and analyzing data related to those risks, and reporting on risk-related matters. Risks considered by the ERM team encompass insurance, investment, credit and operational risks. Responsibilities The Role: The successful candidate will work closely with other ERM team members and other functions within corporate. The business focus of our ERM team also requires collaboration with colleagues across a range of disciplines in our operating companies. Key responsibilities include: Property and Casualty Catastrophe Modeling and Analysis * Model US natural perils and terrorism accumulations for property and workers' compensation business lines for several of the Group's operating units. * Communicate modeling results with the operating units, and assisting them in fully utilizing these results in their pricing and exposure management. * Assist with corporate reporting on worldwide catastrophe modeling. * Assist with validation of vendor catastrophe models including evaluation of new model releases. * Assist with monitoring and measuring the Group's exposure to cyber risk through collating and analyzing both company and industry data * Assist with monitoring and measuring casualty accumulations through collating and analyzing both company and industry data Enterprise Risk Management Assessment and Reporting * Work closely with each operating unit to assist them in implementing and maintaining operating unit enterprise risk management assessments across all risk categories from underwriting to operational.
