The Emergency Department Technician performs routine duties within the limits of documented training for the Emergency Department patient. The care is rendered under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.
High school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to read and comprehend medical terminology, and communicate effectively with others. Graduate of EMT/Paramedic Certification program or graduate of licensed practical nursing program.
Prior experience in the emergency medical field is preferred. Good customer service skills.
Good clerical skills to meet the listed job descriptions. Knowledge of sterile technique.
Current Pennsylvania Department of Health, Paramedic Certification or current license of Practical Nursing. Current BLS required must be completed prior to the end of the orientation period. ACLS certification, Basic Trauma Life Support or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, and PALS certification are preferred.
Safe Crisis Management is required and must be completed prior to the end of the orientation period.
