Job Summary:The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in our healthcare team, providing high-quality, patient-centered care. You will perform a variety of delegated tasks related to basic patient care, daily living activities, and assisting nurses. This role requires a compassionate and service-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.What you will do:You will participate in implementing nursing care plans under the supervision of a registered nurse.You will obtain and record patient information throughout their stay, including vitals, weight, and blood sugar levels.You will document your observations, patient interactions, and responses to care provided.You will assist patients with mobility, including turning, positioning, ambulation, and transfers using proper body mechanics.You will provide or assist with non-medicated care such as dressing changes, skin care, and applying ice/heat packs.You will collect specimens for diagnostic testing and ensure accurate labeling and timely transfer.You will retrieve and deliver supplies as permitted by regulations and hospital policy.You will assist patients in preparing for procedures and surgeries.You will help patients and families become familiar with their room and hospital routines.You will assist patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and grooming.You will perform hourly rounds and respond promptly to patient requests and call lights.You will ensure patient and staff safety by following protocols for handwashing, universal precautions, and use of personal protective equipment.You will maintain clean and hazard-free patient rooms by emptying trash and changing linens.You will assist with post-mortem care as needed.You will help set up, remove, and clean equipment, reporting any malfunctions.You will perform clerical duties like maintaining charts, filing, and answering phones.You will promote positive interactions with patients, demonstrating care, empathy, and active listening.You will contribute to a patient and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.You will participate as a team member and advocate for the entire healthcare team.You will maintain a professional appearance and follow established policies and procedures.You will assist with onboarding new staff and serve as a resource for your peers.You will strive to improve the patient experience and the overall quality of care provided.You will monitor supplies and restock as needed.You will utilize the hospital's charge system for supplies and equipment.You will perform other duties as assigned.You will uphold the hospital's Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statements.Qualifications:Completion of a CNA training program (preferred).1+ years of experience in an acute care setting (preferred).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong sense of compassion and empathy.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Commitment to providing excellent patient care.Good organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Reliability and willingness to learn.Adherence to safety protocols and hospital policies.
