The Equity Research Analyst researches and recommends individual equities in assigned sectors. Additionally, the Analyst supports the Wealth Management Group in researching capital markets and mutual funds, serving clients, and developing new business.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

The Equity Research Analyst is responsible for analyzing and recommending equities within assigned sectors, serving clients, and meeting Investment Department objectives through various responsibilities.

Equity analysis

  • Identify critical drivers of shareholder value creation within assigned sectors.

  • Monitor industry developments and evaluate absolute and relative valuations within assigned sectors.

  • Analyze equity investment opportunities and existing holdings using independent research, financial models, peer and value-chain analysis, and third-party reports and data.

  • Present to strategy managers timely, well-reasoned, high-conviction equity investment recommendations.

General investment department contributions

  • Comply with current policies and procedures of the Investment Department and First American Bank.

  • Actively participate in assigned committees to achieve investment objectives. This may include assisting in management of proprietary Asset Allocation and Collective Fun Models and assisting in the analysis, due diligence meetings, and recommendations of mutual funds.

  • Perform data gathering, analysis, and communication tasks as directed by Investment department leadership.

  • Disseminate investment information to clients and internal constituents regarding performance, economic, and financial market trends.

  • Work with colleagues and vendors to resolve client issues promptly and accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree is required; CFA and/or MBA preferred.

  • A minimum of two years of experience in individual equity research is required.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills are mandatory.

  • Healthcare sector coverage experience is preferred.

  • Must speak clearly with internal and external constituents to effectively tailor messages for audiences with various levels of expertise in capital markets and investments.

  • Must communicate complex concepts in writing effectively and succinctly, using proper spelling and grammar.

  • Maintain credibility through professional demeanor, appearance, and presence by modeling standards appropriate to our environment and industry.

  • Maintain good working relationships with internal partners by exhibiting exemplary interpersonal skills, adopting a constructive, solutions-focused approach.

  • Use sound professional judgment to balance the interests of the organization and customer, understanding and using available resources to mitigate risks.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications is required.

  • Experience using Bloomberg, FactSet, and/or Morningstar Direct preferred.

  • Travel may be required to other First American Bank locations, client meetings, and research events.

  • Typical hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required depending upon business need.

  • Punctuality is required to maintain First American Bank's customer service standards.
