Overview

The Equity Capital Markets group focuses on originating equity offerings (initial public offerings and follow-on offerings), equity-linked securities offerings (e.g., bonds that are convertible into an issuer's equity) and over-the-counter equity derivative transactions (e.g., call spread overlays and structured share repurchase transactions) for corporate clients. The group interacts daily with clients and various parts of the Bank - investment banking, sales and trading, and research.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Origination and execution of new equity and equity-linked offerings

  • Monitoring global markets and analyzing/interpreting relevant issuance data for our clients

  • Preparing industry and product analyses for pitches (including precedent transaction analyses, timing considerations, investor targeting, running analyses to show the financial impact of an equity or equity-linked transaction)

  • Execution of live deals (providing timing, structure and valuation advice, pricing materials, preparing internal memos for various approval processes, and performing various tasks for transaction execution)

Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual. Oversee risks taken in connection with Citi Private Bank Capital Markets activities which includes extension of credit for trading products that are secured by marketable securities and as well as other collateral. Responsibilities: o Provide financial analysis, risk assessment and analytical support for specific accounts and projects across CPB Global Capital Markets Risk. Analyze/assess complex Private Bank clients and special purpose entities for trading lines and capital markets products, recommend risk mitigation strategies for approval to senior risk managers. o Manage risk exposures in assigned portfolio o Cover various relationships within CPB Global Capital Markets Risk such as Standard CPB clients and Markets Direct Access clients in NAM and LATAM. o Utilize complex and diverse knowledge and understanding of credit and risks across various products and an opportunity to develop skills in credit analysis, structuring, and the ability to identify, quantify risk and conceptualize risk mitigation solutions. o Prepare periodic quarterly, semi-annual, and annual portfolio reviews of existing clients, including in-depth analysis of financials, capital structure/liquidity analysis, stress tests, and collateral valuation. o Work directly with senior risk and business colleagues to generate meaningful and detailed credit reviews. o Maintains sound understanding about different markets, products, strategies, tools and associated risks. o Identifies reputation risk and its cause/effects. o Work with Risk Managers with the preparation of portfolio risk analysis, ad-hoc regulatory requirement needs, and other ad-hoc assignments. o Participate in transactions (upon further progression in the analyst role). Analysts may also have the opportunity to participate alongside Risk Managers on internal discussions regarding credit agreement negotiations. o Identify and analyze situations that create risk and legal liability for Citi. o Knowledgeable about risk systems infrastructure including key processes, coverage and data flows in order to identify risk effectively. o Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Qualifications: o 3-5 years previous experience in risk, or business, or support role o Previous experience with Capital Markets products and risks o Experience in counterparty credit analysis or private banking o Understanding of financial analysis and ability to navigate and understand financial statements o Advanced excel and power point skills preferred. o Excellent written and verbal communication.
