The Operating Room (OR) Equipment Technician functions as a member of the Perioperative Nursing Team with specific knowledge, skills, and training to manage OR equipment in the OR environment. Responsible and accountable for establishing, maintaining, and coordinating appropriate inventory of equipment utilized by surgical services. Must have excellent communication skills to work in collaboration with the Charge RN/Lead Surgical Technologist/Nursing Team Leader, OR Manager, and surgeons to ensure appropriate equipment is available for daily needs based on the operating room schedule.

Shift

  • Monday through Friday, 0830 to 1700

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with surgical team, including physicians, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (during patient care) to assure all equipment is available/ready for surgical procedures.

  • Review OR schedule to assure availability of equipment and supplies.

  • Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring that surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely. Secure sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment based on the surgeon's preference cards, as well as the patient's condition, size and surgical procedure. Ensure all equipment and supplies are available and ready when the patient arrives in the operating room. Assist with patient positioning as needed.

  • Upon complete of surgery, assist the surgical team with cleaning of the operating room to prepare for the next surgical procedure.

  • Develop and maintain an inventory of service specific equipment with par levels and location for staff/team reference.

  • Serve as a resource for external customer needs, including vendors and other hospitals. Work with vendors, other hospitals, and other departments to maintain equipment supplies and instrumentation for service lines.

  • Inspect and troubleshoot operating room equipment, including incoming non-hospital owned equipment. Care for equipment (set up and breakdown) as needed. Coordinate equipment repair.

  • Communicate equipment out for repair to team. Assure replacement as necessary.

Work Experience

  • At least 5 years of operating room or equivalent experience

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required; additional training beyond high school Required

Licence and Certification

  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification Required

This role includes both clinical (intraoperative) &amp; administrative time. A successful Team Leader has excellent communication skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, flexible with changes, understands &amp; values diverse perspectives &amp; collaborates with the surgical team overall.</p><p>Shift: Monday</p><ul><li><p>Friday 7a</p></li><li><p>3p with rotating 11a</p></li><li><p>7p required.
