The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the golf course superintendent, the position ensures the proper operation and upkeep of all golf course equipment and designs, implements, and maintains a comprehensive preventive maintenance program including the supervision of equipment repair, recording of parts and labor costs needed to maintain each piece of equipment, budget oversight, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed to maintain the equipment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Interacts with vendors regularly and makes purchasing decisions following standard practices and procedures.
May conduct safety meetings and perform routine testing of all equipment and products.
Properly communicates any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, and schedules and directs work assignments.
Places safety as a top priority and Is responsible for maintaining a professional service area and maintenance building.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Supervisory skills; a working knowledge of theory, care, and operation of engines and light and heavy maintenance equipment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to train individuals on the proper use and routine care of golf course equipment; and the ability to manage budgets, and place and track equipment purchases.
This position will require weekend work.
Knowledge of contemporary agronomy and turfgrass management practices.
Knowledge of current local, state and federal laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations which includes, but is not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations.
The successful candidate will take an active role in continuing educational opportunities such as seminars, community outreach and trade shows.
Preferred Qualifications
A thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
Experience with USGA Performance Management Tool and development/involvement in the Audubon Society.
Prefer good command of the Spanish language.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently and fulfill the physical requirements of the position.
Must be able to work weekends, holidays mornings, and evenings as business and course conditions demand.
