Summary

About the Position: Position is for a Equipment Specialist for the Chicago District for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Indiana Harbor Confined Disposal Facility located in East Chicago, IN.
Responsibilities

Apply a wide range of principles and practices to enhance maintenance effectiveness and efficiency of operations systems at a large Confined Disposal Facility for contaminated sediments.
Formulate preventative maintenance schedules
Monitor and control a programmable logic control based groundwater gradient control systems.
Review and resolve system and component deficiencies
Identifies unusual performance and makes changes and modifications to system performance water treatment plant for processing excess water
Formulates resources needed and options available to meet technical requirements and timeframe of work to be accomplished
Assess current operations and maintenance practices to make recommendations for improvement.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience at an Operational facility maintaining a groundwater
gradient control system or wastewater treatment plant discharging into the navigable waters of the United States.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: engineering or business.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
