The Opportunity:
WSDOT has a unique opportunity for an Equipment Technician to serve in the Parts department of the Northwest Region's vehicle and equipment repair shop. This position has the responsibility to follow established purchasing rules to research, identify, use contracts to procure, receive, store, inventory and issue TEF equipment replacement and repair parts utilizing the Fleet Equipment Management System (M5). The incumbent will be responsible for ordering and receiving inventory stock for seven inventory locations in the NW Region.

This position will perform the following work:

  • Responsible for following established parts purchasing rules and contracts to procure, receive, store, inventory and issue automotive, light truck, heavy equipment and marine replacement parts utilizing the Fleet Equipment Management System (FEMS).

  • Draft, receive and store stock orders.

  • Receive, files and issue stock orders for seven outlying area shops.

  • Post stock and special orders for issue to maintenance area shop personnel.

  • Procure, store and issue bench stock items, shop supplies, shop tools and decals, keeping them in a secured area.

  • Matched, code, copy, file, and process payable invoices.

  • Ensures that all purchasing card entries are completed prior to period close.

  • Monitor and compile an accounts payable file.

  • Utilizing the FEMS system, maintains an accurate and efficient on-hand inventory with a minimum amount of obsolete items.

  • Meets with sales personnel, representatives, and vendors to discuss equipment component requirements and product availability.

  • Performs price and availability comparisons, analyze data, and make recommendations to supervision.

  • Other duties as assigned

An ideal candidate for this position shall have:

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, equipment operation, agency programs, and user requirements.

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, heavy commercial, industrial, and agency specialized parts and equipment.

  • Ability to estimate costs associated to routine automotive parts purchases and perform purchases from mandatory contracts.

Position Summary Maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Program and HCT business standards. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment under the guidance and direct supervision of an experienced BMET. Adheres to instructions and corporate policies, and demonstrates professionalism with integrity in all interactions with customers and staff. Essential Functions Leadership * Works with an experienced BMET in the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment. * Exercises sound judgment, and consults with higher level authority for resolution of difficult issues. * Conducts departmental rounds with customers to promote communication and learn operations. * Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community. * Communicates routinely with supervisory personnel on the status of equipment repair and maintenance activities along with immediately reporting all patient/equipment operator safety issues. Service * Under appropriate supervision, performs assigned duties in accordance with current policies and procedures, including scheduled maintenance, equipment inspection, installations, repairs, adjustments, calibrations and safety testing of less complex biomedical equipment, such as infusion pumps. * Performs basic administrative tasks associated with the position, including parts ordering and returns, and email correspondence. * Possesses knowledge of electrical safety theory, and performs repairs and electrical safety testing on biomedical instrumentation. * Provides strong verbal/written communications consistent with assigned tasks. * Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature. * Uses office automation hardware, software and diagnostic service software appropriate to the equipment being serviced.
