Job Summary:

Safely operate and/or have the ability to operate various equipment including forklift, bobcat, excavator, front loader, backhoe, track hoe, bulldozer, compactor and/or steer equipment to bale, load and move waste material.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate necessary equipment to bale and load waste material into trailers.

  • Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.

  • Maintain daily record of number of bales produced for shipping.

  • Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily

  • Operator will steer, guide and or drive the above listed equipment at the assigned site, if the equipment is used at the particular site(s) using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons and pedals.

  • Operator will substitute for another operator if someone is absent from the work crew or as needed/required.

  • Operator will clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment by pulling and or cutting material away from tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or more if needed.

  • Operator will use a two-way radio to communicate with co-workers in the field and or office regarding work activities, requirements and priorities for the work day.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired, but not required.

  • Completion of forklift certification.

  • Ability to obtain Transfer Station / Landfill Operations Certification if needed.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.

  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Operate Heavy Equipment. Operate off-highway equipment to transport raw materials and/or finished products throughout the facility in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation with accuracy. Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by checking vehicle fluid levels and adding correct fluids as necessary. Assist in performing other minor maintenance. Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Monitor the plant and operations and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety. Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Skills You'll Need: Experience. Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment is preferred. Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
