We are currently seeking a Equipment Operator to join our growing team!

Position Overview:

The Equipment Operator I is considered to be an experienced operator of heavy machinery who reports to the Service Center Manager/Regional Manager and can operate a variety of equipment utilized in the construction, environmental services or remediation industries. The Equipment Operator I must be able to perform all duties in compliance with appropriate company and OSHA safety procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.

  • Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in construction, environmental services and remediation activities.

  • Maintain and properly use all equipment issued by the company. Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to manager.

  • Maintain the required training elements of the position to assure proper execution and industry knowledge.

  • Must maintain a spirit of cooperation and teamwork at all times.

  • Must participate in daily and weekly safety meetings with expectations of adhering to the job specific and company safety policies.

  • Properly complete and submit company forms including but not limited to expense reports, timecards, etc.

  • Must be willing to work beyond normal work hours. Must be available for night time and weekend work.

  • Completes other tasks as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma preferred

  • Ability to operate skid steer, mini/small excavator, rubber tire loader, articulating dump truck, water truck and compactor.

  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting/manual labor

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER

  • 1-3 years construction/environmental services/remediation heavy equipment operation experience

Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verifications throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.

Job Description The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred Qualifications * Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness. * Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner. * Good follow through ability; ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.. * Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks. * Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals Principal Responsibilities * Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean. Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include: forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards. * Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials. * Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean tracks or wheels on equipment, as needed. * Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring more complicated mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop for repair. * Complete Equipment Condition Report and other reports, as necessary; report any necessary repairs to supervisor, as needed. * Follow all required safety policies and procedures. * Ensure that shop is clean, serviced and stored at the completion of each shift. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications * High School diploma or GED. * Two years' prior related experience in heavy equipment operation. * One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
