Pay: $19.14 per hour $39,809 annually

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday- 7:00am-3:30pm- 2200 S. Webb Rd

Maintains and operates medium to heavy equipment used in the support and operation of County construction projects including snow and ice removal.

Repair asphalt, gravel, and concrete surfaced roads

• Install, repair, and maintain culverts

• Complete general maintenance work in grading, patching, and maintaining improved & unimproved roads

• Apply cold patch or hot mix asphalt to fix potholes

• Complete Maintenance, repair, and replacement of work zone and basic roadway signage

• Fill cracks in road surface

• Assist with ditch grade leveling operations

• Assist in setting up work zones for road construction projects

• Wear PPE and follow local, state, and federal safety regulations

Operate medium to heavy equipment for road construction work

• Operate a dump truck for hauling material

• Operate rollers, power brooms, and other related equipment

• Learn to operate heavy and specialized equipment, including motor grader, backhoe, bulldozer, front end loader, and excavator

• Assist with loading and unloading material and equipment

• Perform preventative maintenance and make minor repairs to assigned equipment

• Perform manual work associated with equipment operations

Participates in snow and ice removal operations

• Operate a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow and ice

• Operate loader to load material for snow & ice removal

• Begin learning to operate a motor grader for snow and ice removal

• Maintain equipment in good condition

• Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for follow on shift

• Report problems immediately to shift supervisor

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. One year of experience operating light and medium weight equipment. Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B w/air brakes & tanker endorsements

Preferred Qualifications: One year experience in road construction. Valid Kansas Commercial Driver's License Class A w/air brakes & tanker endorsements.
