This is a full time, non-exempt 100% position.
JOB SUMMARY:
Operators are responsible for effectively and safely operating and performing daily maintenance on heavy equipment. This may include (but is not limited to) cranes, bucket trucks, diggers, trenchers, skid steers, and wire pullers.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Learn and follow safety regulations.
Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
Mechanical
Position construction or extraction equipment.
Locate equipment or materials in need of repair or replacement.
Monitor construction operations.
Operate heavy-duty construction or installation equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Job may require operation of equipment in all elements without climate control.
Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns).
Job requires employee to have required hand tools with them at all times while at work site. (Waist toolbelts can weigh up to 40 lbs.)
Must wear personnel protective equipment at all times. (i.e. Hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
Ability to lift, by one's self, work- loads of up to 50 lbs.
Possess good vision / hearing. (Normal or corrected).
Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.
