  • The incumbent operates the following: sweepers, backhoes, loaders, bulldozers, dump trucks, rollers, skid-steer loaders and tractor trailers as part of a crew performing maintenance.

  • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.

  • Identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution.

Required Skills

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Performs flexible and rigid pavement preservation on streets, parking lots and airfield; removes damaged pavement, place and compact hot/cold mix asphalts, place and finish concrete, route/seal cracks and joints.

  • Performs wintertime snow and ice removal by utilizing snow removal equipment, plowing and chemical application.

  • Performs emergency repairs to equipment.

  • Performs debris removal, erosion control, and bridge and culvert maintenance.

  • Performs maintenance, installation and repair of permanent and temporary signage.

  • Responsible for completing daily work/labor order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work order.

  • Reads and interprets simple plans, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions, may include interpreting grade and slope stakes.

  • Performs installation, repairs and maintains all chain link fencing.

  • Adheres to proper security practices, foreign object damage procedures, and airfield driving regulations, as applicable.

  • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.

  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.

  • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.

  • Follows Alutiiq Commercial Enterprise furnished information directives; TSS JV Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ACE Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.

  • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

  • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience

Mandatory:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.

  • Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record and proof of valid insurance.

  • Valid Class A CDL

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a construction or road maintenance environment and snow removal

  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.

  • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.

  • Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.

  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.

  • Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.

  • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Must be available to work other shifts as directed, to include week-ends and holidays.

Preferred:

  • Four (4) years' experience in a construction or road maintenance environment and snow removal

  • Experience in operating large equipment, preferred.

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Military experience.

  • Previous experience working on a military installation.

  • Experience working on Tinker facilities.

  • Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.

ERRG's Hawaii Office is seeking site-hires who are self-motivated, independent, dependable, and strong communicators to be Heavy Equipment Operators, specializing in excavator and/or backhoe work. Summary: Operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, compactors, articulated dump trucks, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth. Majority of earth-moving activities will be associated with environmental contamination. Operate equipment with both CAT and John Deere controls. Maintain and perform minor equipment repair in addition to other duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Learn and follow safety regulations. * Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects. * Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms. * Start engines, move throttles, switches, levers, and depress pedals to operate machines such as bulldozers, trench excavators, wheel loaders, and backhoes. * Locate underground services, such as pipes and wires, prior to beginning work. * Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met. * Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers. * Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials using trucks, shovels, graders, or related equipment. * Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain. * Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning, or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members. Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED). * Five (5) years of experience working as an equipment operator. * Trained and certified to operate the equipment assigned with a minimum of 4 years of equipment specific experience. * Experience following plans and stakes for cut and fill. * Current 40-hour HAZWOPER or 8-Hour Refresher. * Experience working on environmental, remediation projects/sites. * Demonstrated experience operating excavators, bulldozers, compactors, articulated dump trucks, and front-end loaders. * Ability to travel to project sites.. * Able to walk-stand 8+ hours/day. * Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Preferred Qualifications: * Minimum four (4) years of work experience at environmental construction sites. * Experience working on military construction projects.
