We're looking for a Equipment Manager in North East, Maryland.

The Opportunity:

The Equipment Manager is responsible for managing, monitoring, maintaining and enforcing the auction site's Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) Program standards, procedures, best practices and guidelines.

In this role you'll:

  • Ensure equipment inventory control systems and equipment data collection processes are in place at the auction site, including temporary offsite sale locations (e.g. inspections, photos, insurance and re-consignments, etc).

  • Assume full accountability for DEI quality control (e.g. equipment photographs and descriptions, etc).

  • Effectively manage and coach DEI team, including setting performance objectives and conducting annual performance reviews.

  • Assist the Training Department with developing and delivering related training / certification programs to employees as required.

  • Oversee the auction site's customer service levels surrounding DEI, including addressing and resolving escalated customer inquiries and issues.

  • Monitor key performance indicators and generate detailed reports on key DEI operational areas.

  • Recommend best practices to improve DEI efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Oversee development of sale advertising materials (e.g. brochures).

  • Manage all DEI related equipment documentation.

  • Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority for all.

  • Assist the Sales team with appraisals and write-ups in the field between peak periods.

  • Assist DEI team during peak periods as necessary.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Regional Operations Manager and the Program Manager, Inventory Information.

Here's what you'll bring:

  • You have at least 5 years experience in equipment management (inspections, inventory and appraisals) and/or inventory control management, preferably in the auction or heavy equipment business.

  • You also have at least 3 years experience supervising and leading a team of staff. Proven strong leadership and coaching skills are required for this role.

  • A university degree or college degree in the field of Business Management or a related technical field would be ideal but is not required.

  • Project Management certification is an asset.

  • Quality Assurance experience is an asset.

  • Solid proficiency level using current MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Proven ability to effectively interface with Sales and Operational teams, as well as customers. You must have a strong customer service orientation.

  • Strong written, spoken, listening, and interpersonal communication skills in English.

  • Fluency in English (oral & written) is a must. Ability to speak other additional languages would be considered an asset.

  • You must be process-oriented, hands-on and ready to roll up your sleeves to succeed in this role.

  • Excellent organizational skills, you're the type that leaves no detail unattended.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to identify issues, develop solutions and drive resolution.

  • You thrive on achieving results without ever sacrificing integrity.

  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented and self directed.

  • Ability to think quickly and make decisions on your feet.

  • Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task multiple projects and initiatives effectively and prioritize work are essential.

  • Highly capable of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure, ever-changing environment. You must also have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. You thrive working as part of a team and pitch-in wherever needed.

  • You have a strong work ethic without sacrificing your sense of humor or your ability to have fun on the job.

This job will require you to:

  • Have a valid, clean driver's license.

  • Climb on and off large equipment and trucks.

  • Work both indoors and outdoors year-round.

  • Work regular overtime, including weekend hours at the auction sales.

  • You can expect to work extra hours for two weeks prior to each sale, during each sale, and for one week after each sale.

  • Travel to other auction sites if necessary.

The Opportunity: We're looking for a hands-on, hard-working Yard Manager who can juggle many things at once! In this role, you'll be responsible for managing all aspects of the auction yard, including occupational and environmental health and safety, yard team management, financial accountability, and organization of the yard. No prior auction experience is needed to work in this role, and lots of training will be provided.Our Yard Managers ensure that the main auction site and off-site locations run smoothly and safely. In this job you'll: * Hires and supervises competent and experienced operators and stickmen. * Coordinates site preparation, auction ramp and loading ramp. * Oversees yard layout and equipment line up. * Ensures sale site safety. * Ensures adherence to environmental regulations of the sale location. * Plans the refurbishing schedule and budget; controls purchase orders and cost sheets. * Liaises with subcontractors. * Ensures equipment is in sale-ready condition. * Coordinates security including check in, coding and layout. * Arranges directional, parking and yard signs. * Ensures proper attachment removal. * Ensures equipment has fuel, oil and anti-freeze. * Responsible for sale site sound system. * Affixes lot numbers. * Organizes yard supplies per check list. * Performs other various duties as required from time to time. Here's what you bring: * Previous experience managing or supervising multi-disciplinary teams. * Experience with industrial and / or agricultural equipment, trucks and trailers. * Previous cost management experience, and a background in business fundamentals and business financial knowledge is preferred. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Proven experience providing excellent customer service to customers and colleagues. * Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new programs. * Top-notch written and verbal communication skills (on this job your most valuable tools will be the 2-way radio, a cell phone and a desk phone). * Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. * You like to work hard, but still have fun on the job. This job will require you to: * Do some travel, approx. 10%. * Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving abstract, and a passport (or passport eligibility). * Work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and climb on and off large equipment and trucks. * Because we are an event-driven company, we need you to be able to work regular overtime, including weekend hours, at 4-5 onsite auction sales. * You can expect to work extra hours for 2 weeks prior to each sale, during each sale, and for 1 week after each sale.
