As a Tesla Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability and preventive maintenance of a wide array of critical manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime. Tesla's Equipment Maintenance are also the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production going.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day coverage of production equipment in assigned area - complete scheduled PM's, respond to alarms, solve equipment breakdowns and fulfill production requests efficiently to minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose equipment failures - root cause and communicate required actions across relevant teams.

  • Perform major equipment repairs, rebuilds and installations.

  • Collaborate with Process and Equipment Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance protocols.

  • Help drive effort to identify critical spares and inventory

  • Review work requests for equipment in assigned area of responsibility

  • Follow all aspects of maintenance safety protocol (LOTO, 5S, Arc Flash, etc.).

  • Contribute to a highly productive, efficient and team-oriented work environment where we have fun getting it done.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment.

  • Planning, scheduling and execution of CMMS software is a plus

  • Deep technical experience in diagnosis and repair of electromechanical systems, conveyance systems, hydraulics/pneumatics, and electrical systems for production equipment.

  • Technical command of robotics and controls/PLC programming (Allen Bradley and/or Siemens preferred).

  • Experience maintaining and solving technical issues with Fanuc and/or Kuka robots preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute and improve preventative maintenance methods, documentation and/or scheduling to minimize equipment downtime.

  • Proficiency in basic MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

With direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, a Technician B performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks including, but not limited to, chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, hydraulic electrical, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drive train and steering systems. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred Qualifications Principal Responsibilities Maintains a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road: * Chassis component repair and maintenance; * Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; and air and hydraulic braking systems; * Engine repair and maintenance; * Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems; and * Heating and air conditioning. Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication. Safely provides road service when necessary to ensure that the Company's equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner. Identifies the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools. Completes applicable Company training programs. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent. Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: Suspensions & Steering; General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions. Basic understanding of work order labor time standards. Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required. Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required. Valid Driver's License (required).
