Job Description:

Position Summary:

Maintain, repair, and improve electronically controlled process equipment, building control equipment, and CNC machine tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily:

  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electromechanical equipment to identify and correct root cause of failures.

  • Panel and board level troubleshooting of electronic control systems.

  • Ability to narrow problem to software or electrical root cause.

  • Repair or coordination of repair of the following equipment types:

  • NC Machine Tooling (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM)

  • PLC controlled process equipment

  • Automated test and measurement equipment and cables

  • Suggest and perform machine control upgrades to new standards/technologies to increase reliability.

  • Assists with installation of new equipment.

  • Creates PM plans for new or existing machines.

  • Works with internal and external suppliers to coordinate repair, service or to support troubleshooting actions.

  • Administer building security systems.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in electronics technology, mechanical/electrical/industrial engineering or related field required.

  • 2 3 years' experience in maintenance, manufacturing engineering, or related position is required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, use of gages and measuring instruments.

  • Ability to interpret, troubleshoot, and write G-code or similar language.

  • Ability to interpret, troubleshoot, and write ladders/ladder logic.

  • Ability to interpret print specifications and schematics.

  • Ability to interpret and write SQL and familiarity with database systems preferred but not required.

  • Ability to interpret and/or write code in C, VB or other text-based programming languages preferred but not required.

  • Strong technical background is required to troubleshoot systems, machinery, test equipment.

  • Must be motivated, self-directed and able to work well in a team environment.

  • Must be able to read and work to blue prints and work instructions.

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.

VIEW JOBS 11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-07T00:00 Job Description The Sourcing Project Engineer is a key member of the Global Supply Chain Team and has responsibility for developing and executing sourcing projects to meet defined Supply Chain objectives. The majority of the time is spent in project execution and management. This role will be joining the Kollmorgen team in Radford, VA. Kollmorgen is part of Altra. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. * Executes and manages Cost Saving projects * Utilizes and facilitates use of the VAVE tool to identify and deliver cost savings * Facilitates communication between product engineering, suppliers, operations and product marketing at multiple sites * Communicates equally well with: Global Supply Chain Team, Sales, Engineering, Suppliers, Marketing, Operations, Materials, Finance * Develops sourcing strategy for assigned projects in conjunction with the Global Supply Chain Team and site teams * Works with other locations to determine needs for materials and materials processes ensuring that new process meets needs of the receiving site * Completes landed cost analysis * Performs ABC analysis of Product BOMs * Reports out on project status * Develops overlap plan for supply chain transitions * Travels to suppliers and Kollmorgen sites – up to 25% of time * Sets up logistics plan in conjunction with site and Global Logistics team members * Coordinates ERP set up of project parts in Oracle * Works with the Global Supply Chain Team to effectively negotiate supplier contracts * Negotiates and manages suppliers on capital equipment acquisitions Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
