  • Candidate will be able to write a preliminary scope of work and estimate the cost and schedule to fabricate the equipment. /span br span

  • Candidate will leverage Keystone Tool and Die for the design work. /span br span

  • Candidate will give input into establishing a baseline schedule, ways to reduce the schedule and provide a cost estimate for manufacturing the first primary piece. /span br span

  • Candidate will work with division process engineers and S&T modeling resources process equipment requirements. Must have strong SolidWorks and simulation skills, experience in designing equipment, experience leveraging vendors for design of handling and process support equipment, appreciation and sensitivity for stress generated in glass during handling and manufacturing operations, team player and good communications skills. /span br br span

    Key Responsibilities:
    /span br span Work with project team members to solve difficult mechanical engineering and process equipment related problems, resolve project related issues and develop understanding of process and equipment design requirements /span br span Define and document machine design specifications, error budgets and mechanical design concepts. Design and follow construction of prototype and production process equipment, lead proof of concept and prototype tests to validate design concept, collect and evaluate data and make appropriate engineering recommendations /span br span Work with external machine builders, system integrators and suppliers to specify and successfully deliver fully integrated process machine systems to their internal Customers on-time, on-budget, to meet process performance measures /span br span Lead generation of construction drawings, installation drawings and ensure that final drawing packages reflect as-built conditions and satisfies Corning drawing standards /span br span Report on project activities, status and issues on a periodic basis to project and department leadership; Maintain records and track expenditures against allocated funds. Estimate time required to accomplish tasks and monitor performance against schedules /span br span Should be able to work in a team based environment and able to participate on a highly matrixed project team to execute project assignments, with minimal supervision /span br br span Education and Experience: /span br span
  • B.S. / M.S. Mechanical Engineering /span br span

SCOPE OF POSITION: Encompasses the application of engineering principles concerned with the integrity of manufactured products and processes, especially design specifications, testing procedures, and minimum quality standards. RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role, you will develop, maintain, and improve quality evaluation and control systems for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. * Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. * Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating products. Evaluates the precision and accuracy of measurement systems and the capability of production processes. * Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. * Facilitates review of non-conforming material to drive to root cause. * Tracks and reports on key-metrics. * Responds to quality issues to ensure containment is effective, root cause is identified, and corrective actions are effective and meet acceptable standards. * Leads customer source inspections, creates and documents customer data packs as needed. * Supports procurement in supplier quality evaluation and engagement. * May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies. May also be responsible for the location's Performance Excellence (Six-Sigma) project portfolio, assuring effective use of improvement methodologies (DMAIC, Lean, Product Quality Architecture, etc.) to achieve division or plant strategic goals. * You will be assisting and coaching improvement project leaders in project execution, and on the use of quality tools, methods and processes. * Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. * Responsible for supervision of quality operations-technicians in calibration, product inspection and process audit roles. REQUIRED SKILLS: * Bachelor Degree Required - Engineering Degree * 5+ years of experience desired, but willing to consider a recent 2018 graduate (May or December) with the desire to learn and grow in this position. * Excellent written and verbal communication * Interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers and to work well within groups * Ability to motivate and influence change with strong organizational skills, and detail oriented. * Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and identify root cause of problems to enable effective corrective action.
