Reports to: Engineer Manager - Equipment Group

Description: Performs all tasks related to new equipment development including but not limited to concept development, sourcing, progress tracking, validation of performance and approval for hand-off to Manufacturing Plants

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports

  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software

  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles

  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information

  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions

  • Conduct research to test or analyze the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems

  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations

  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification

  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications

  • Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance

  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications

  • Evaluate tool drawing designs and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills

  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments

  • Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance

  • Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing

  • Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods

  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices

  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear

  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs

  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems

  • Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma + 10 Years Maintenance Experience; or BS Degree in ME, IE, or ET; or AAS in Mechatronics, Maintenance, or Tooling

SKILLS:

  • Experience working with Windows operating system as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint),

  • AutoCad, and/or Solidworks experience- preferred

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to write technical reports

  • Effective at troubleshooting - root cause analysis and problem solving techniques

  • Background with PLC programming and Robot programming- preferred

  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time with limited prior notice

  • Must be able to work any shift and overtime as required to support department/company scheduled targets / objectives in a quality/timing manner

  • Knowledge of ISO/IATF- preferred

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment the noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud

Physical Demands:

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds The employee may also be required to work in hot temperatures
