DESCRIPTION
Involves the restoration of patient's respiratory and pulmonary function; alleviates pain; plans and administers prescribed respiratory therapy. Conducts pulmonary functions tests, administers treatments and completes discharge planning with other members of the patient's clinical team. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements. Serves as a respiratory clinical specialist for staff, nurses, and physicians.
The specialist is responsible for ensuring the proper function, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all Respiratory Care equipment as well as supply management and inventory. The specialist is also responsible for:
Facilitating with Clinical Technology on PM's, equipment repairs, recalls, and keeping inventory on all equipment across all sites.
Working with store house on supply management for back orders, discontinuations, and substitutes for all products.
Works with patient safety, regulatory, and completes all i-reports on equipment management
Medical gas expert and manages O2, nitric oxide, medical air, and Heliox gases and responsible to work with facilities on planning of organizational medical gas shutdowns
Disaster management coordination
Policy writing and revisions on all equipment management
Rental Liaison facilitating rentals and return of equipment
Works directly with vendors for education, training, and upgrades on equipment
Facilitates offsite storage and removal of equipment not functioning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Nine (9) years of relevant experience/training OR a Bachelor's Degree in respiratory therapy plus five (5) years of relevant experience/training.
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of California.
Experience and proven knowledge in respiratory care theory and industry best practices.
Proven ability to apply knowledge and skills to recommend improvements to Respiratory operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Clinical specialty certification.
NICU/Pediatric Experience
Served as a preceptor or instructor in courses/workshops on topics related to this position.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
