Florida Equine Veterinary Associates (FEVA) is seeking an Equine Sports Medicine Associate with 3-5 years of experience to compliment our existing team of veterinarians in providing outstanding service to our competition horse client base.

About Florida Equine Veterinary Associates

Our mantra is "excellence for your equine athlete." We are specialists in what we do: Diplomates of specialty Colleges recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

We are educators: Associate Professors at the University of Florida; speakers at national conferences; and publishers of original scientific work for use by other veterinarians. But, most of all, we are passionate in our clinical work: we truly care about getting the correct diagnosis and treatment for our patients.

We provide primary care and specialist sports medicine consulting services to our professional clientele, who operate at the pinnacle of their sport. We are based in the horse capital of the USA, only six miles from the new World Equestrian Center venue in Ocala, Florida.

We also provide services out of state and regularly travel to national Thoroughbred horse auctions. Our primary patient demographic is the training Thoroughbred racehorse, but we also service a large show and sport horse population, mainly on a referral basis.

We utilize wireless radiography, digital and wireless ultrasonography, videoendoscopy, lameness locator, UTC (ultrasound tissue characterization), ESWT, PRP, IRAP, Prostride, nuclear scintigraphy, and have direct access to both Hallmarq and high field MRI, to provide accurate diagnoses for our patients.

We are seeking an enthusiastic team member who wishes to provide excellent care to clientele. The position includes a five-day workweek and a rotating day (and night) on-call schedule, shared between the other veterinarians and generally expected to include 1-2 nights per week and 1 weekend every 3-5 weeks. We are avid publishers of original scientific work and, while not a job requirement, would be happy to provide guidance for candidates who express an interest in pursuing academic goals such as publishing or furthering their professional development through post-DVM qualifications.

Who is our ideal candidate?

  • Associate candidates should be equine veterinarians with a minimum of three years of experience in a high level sport horse practice with an internship or a minimum of five years in a similar environment without an internship.

  • We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator both with staff and clients, and who views a move to central Florida as a potential long-term stay with an interest in professional development.

  • Must have, or be eligible for FL licensure and have a clean driving license.

What can we offer?

  • A full benefits package including use of company vehicle and a minimum of $10k in relocation assistance

  • Signing and retention bonus packages are negotiable for excellent candidates

  • Strong mentorship and professional development support

  • Gold standard equipment and facilities
