Bayhill Equine is a fully ambulatory practice specializing in sports medicine for the performance horse. With a highly trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment and treatment protocols, Bayhill Equine stands as the preeminent practice in the Bay Area.

The sports medicine aspect includes pre-purchase exams, lameness workups and treatment, and the latest techniques in regenerative medicine. We offer the latest diagnostic equipment in an ambulatory practice including digital x-ray and ultrasound, and both 1-meter and 3-meter video endoscopes. Treatment modalities include stem cell therapy, Alpha 2 EQ, PRP, IRAP, Pro Stride and a class 4 laser. We also offer acupuncture services.

Staffing Number: Approximately 8-10 employees including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, office manager, receptionist/clerical staff.

Case Load: Approximately 5,000 ambulatory cases per year.

Types of Cases: Highest level of sports medicine for primarily hunter/jumpers.

Our caseload also includes a significant number of dressage, eventing, and some pleasure horses. Most cases are lameness oriented.

Estimated Daily or Weekly Workload: Varies with time of year and emergency case load.

Normal business hours are 9:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturday. Emergency services are provided 24 hours a day to clients on the Peninsula.

Philosophy of Internship: To provide a new veterinarian the opportunity to practice quality equine medicine in a learning environment that is conducive to increasing their knowledge and skills in veterinary medicine, along with exposure to the day-to-day factors of managing a private practice, thus providing them with the tools to become a successful equine veterinarian.

Prerequisites for Internship: DVM degree, completion of National Boards Exam (NAVLE), a California DVM license or eligibility for licensure in the state of California, at least three professional and personal references and a personal interview.

List of Internship Duties in Practice: Duties will involve performing or assisting in all ambulatory calls, almost exclusively with a lameness and sports medicine focus, as well as Emergency duty.

Emergency Duty Requirements: Rotating schedule with other associate veterinarians, always with direct or indirect supervision of a staff veterinarian.

Employee Benefits: 7 days paid leave, 3 days paid leave for CE, Professional Liability Insurance and AAEP dues paid by the practice. Health insurance and other supplemental benefits provided.

Internship Duration: One year.

Internship Salary: $2500 per month in addition to the above benefits. Housing stipend provided.
