Apple packaging is a world-class team thriving in conducting a memorable and delightful introduction to an amazing array of Apple products. As a Packaging Engineering Project Manager you will be responsible for managing development activities, executing builds, coordinate testing and handing off to mass production a high quality first class product.

You should have at least 8 years of combined experience in project management and mechanical engineering delivering products comprised of multiple materials and high aesthetic quality You are comfortable to drive day-to-day activities to meet overall project objectives We look up to you to enable the development effort by creating and monitoring an efficient, streamlined process. Redirect pitfalls and develop a better course of action Identify and direct all resources required to execute successful projects Collaborate and facilitate communication across engineering managers, operations manager, marketing managers and our OEM partners to meet very aggressive cost, schedule, and quality goals.

Lead cross-functional communication between project teams and external vendors Provide timely issue resolution and critical path management Offer multiple levels of status across a wide spectrum of individual contributors to executive management Understand technical issues and drive them to closure by bringing together key partners for decision-making Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience Self-motivated and dedicated with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities Ability to work in a high-pressure dynamic environment Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity Multinational development experiences also a plus. Understanding CAD/Mechanical design is nice to have.

For this role we are looking for a Project/Program Manager with a minimum of 5+ years of related packaging/mechanical background. If you were a practicing engineer prior to becoming a project manager, you will add great value to this role.

You are an expert of Multi-tasking and dealing with ambiguity. As a packagin EPM, you will be supporting cross functional teams like Operations, Mechanical Engineering, Design and Marketing. You are experienced with portable consumer electronics devices and familiarity with mechanical enclosure parts. For you to thrive in this role, you need to have detailed knowledge of product development processes as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering is preferred. - MBA and/or PMP certification preferred

There is a universal joy in unboxing Apple products, and that experience is designed and created by an extraordinary team that is continually pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology. Apple is looking for a product design engineer to join the Packaging group. You will be responsible for the exploration and implementation of new and innovative designs in the packaging of all Apple products. Your responsibilities will span from technology development and concept generation to detailed design, analysis and testing through mass production ramp. The position will require close partnership with cross-functional partners throughout Apple, and collaboration with multiple design teams within Apple. In addition, the job will require interaction with suppliers and periodic travel to sites both within and outside of the USA. This role will require you to possess knowledge in many areas including materials selection, manufacturing processes (paper folding, molded fiber, CNC, die-cutting, thermoforming, injection molding), textiles, cosmetic detailing, testing, etc. You should have extraordinary organizational skills and able to manage multiple, complex, dynamic, interrelated packaging programs. Ideally, you are an excellent communicator who is able to quickly grasp issues and drive them to resolution, able to collaborate with other departments and all levels of management within Apple and its partners. An ability to work in a quickly changing environment and to be a creative problem solver is a requirement. 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or similar Experience working in a team environment and self-motivated to identify and close design issues You can articulate design issues in quantitative terms both verbally and with documentation Experience designing parts and assemblies for high volume manufacturing and experience supporting production ramp is valued We prefer Computer industry experience, but we will also consider experience in medical, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, sporting goods, footwear, outdoor industry, and other fields with relevant technology and development models An understanding of tolerance analysis, statistics & process control You can drive people/groups for quality, schedule and design both internally and externally CAD design experience using both 2D and 3D applications (Siemens NX and Artios CAD preferred) * Developing initial packaging design layouts and new technology concepts - Mechanism design - Model/prototype building to prove function, manufacturability, and robustness - Analyze data generated from builds and lab experiments - Partner with industrial design team on concepts and detailed design - Support technology investigation and development - Generating and accepting feedback in brainstorming and design review forums - Perform tolerance analyses to verify performance of mechanisms and cosmetic specifications in the presence of high volume dimensional variation - Detailed design and 2D documentation of all parts and assemblies - Interacting with vendors to develop manufacturing processes and tooling concepts - Travel to support build activities including finding root cause for failures and solutions for issues that impede build progress - Work with operations teams to evaluate and develop supply chains capable of manufacturing new subsystems and products define testing requirements and equipment BS degree with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Science, with at least 4 years of related industry experience Apple Inc.
