DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Epidemiologist, you will have two primary areas of focus which include providing epidemiologic coordination of core HIV surveillance activities, including field activities, and providing epidemiology coordination for the department's planning, monitoring, management, and response to HIV clusters and outbreaks statewide. This position receives, processes, and manages HIV/AIDS data, identifies errors and initiates corrective actions, distributes data in compliance with existing polices, and provides HIV/AIDS expertise and training support as necessary.

You will participate in presenting, publishing, and reporting epidemiologic findings and professional experiences via professional journals, national and regional conferences, and other means as appropriate, to disseminate information and advance scientific knowledge. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to provide information via webinars, written publications, and presentation to educate healthcare providers and facilities, Commonwealth employees, and the public on HIV infection epidemiology and prevention.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment

• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
  
  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Possession of either a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in epidemiology, Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD), Osteopathy (DO), Dental Surgery/Medicine (DDS/DDM/DMD), or Veterinary Medicine (DVM); AND two years of professional experience investigating disease outbreaks, designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, or designing and maintaining a disease surveillance system; or

• Possession of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in a biological science such as biology, genetics, nursing or virology; AND either a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree or Master of Science (MS) degree in epidemiology; AND two years of professional experience investigating disease outbreaks, designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, or designing and maintaining a disease surveillance system.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
