The Epic Programmer (BRIDGES) Analyst on the interface team supports critical existing interfaces and APIs for data flowing into and out of Epic, as part of a 24x7 on-call rotation, ensuring ongoing data feeds and resolving errors. Often times error resolution for transactions in the interface error queue allows information to load into a patient chart. This analyst is also responsible for implementing new interfaces for a variety of initiatives: Community Connect locations and most partnerships involve interfaces, and any external systems that rely on patient data. An area of focus for this position is the Cardiology service line, with projects related to Epic Cupid, Imaging, and PACS.
Premier Health utilizes the EPIC system as the electronic medical record (EMR) in which patient health information is entered and stored for the purpose of securing patient clinical information and enhancing patient care. Premier Health employs multiple Epic Teams that specialize in a range of applications within the Epic EMR.
The Epic Programmer Analyst is responsible for application configuration, deployment and support, change documentation, and will educate and inform staff on EPIC functionality. The individual will anticipate business needs and think with a business owner mind-set based on a strong fundamental knowledge of the system, and the organizational infrastructure to recommend solutions that enable the enterprise to achieve its goals. These responsibilities require the individual to stay current with the systems and/or applications as well as coordinate across multiple and varied teams to deliver solutions for the enterprise. This position will include on call responsibilities.

Type of degree: Associate Degree with 6 plus years job experience & 3 years Epic experience or Bachelor Degree with 4 plus years job experience & 2 years Epic experience
Area of study or major: Computer Science, Data Processing, Medical Technology, Radiology, Mathematics, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Laboratory, Pharmacy, or Medicine.

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience
Other experience requirements: Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization. Requires knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.

Essential Duties & Functions:
1.Responsible for the processing and implementation of approved change requests within established service level agreements.
2.Conducts HL7 and other healthcare data interoperability protocols, interface development, and data conversion.
3.Builds HL7 interface system components.
4.Works with affiliates to analyze design, document, test, troubleshoot, and coordinate implementation of HL7 interfaces.
5.Build, maintain, and support Rhapsody interface engine.
6.Conducts data analysis, data transformation and data load into Epic via HL7 and FHIR.
7.Monitors interface application error logs to overcome production and testing issues.
8.Creates, modifies, and tests message structures, events, and connections
9.Responds to assigned system incidents, providing support and assistance to all users to correct and avoid recurrence of problems.
Works as a team member or leader on projects as well as provides estimates for complex work efforts. Dimensions of project assignments range from simple stand-alone applications to large projects.
Provides back-up assistance to other team members and shares knowledge/education with fellow team members.
Works independently with minimal supervision.
Researches, learns and understands the Premier Health IT policies, procedures and practices, especially related to change management, incident handling and service level agreements.
Delivers solutions to complex business problems that are cost-effective and produce high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
Leads and mentors other programmer analysts in the development, implementation, and problem resolution of an application. This is accomplished through planning, scheduling, assigning, coordinating, and reviewing tasks performed by team members. May provide input to the yearly performance evaluation of staff.
Evaluates software and hardware products and make recommendations for improving operations or processes.
Typical work hours are M-F 8am-5pm and may vary based operational need. May also be required to participate in a 24 x 7 on-call support rotation to meet the critical clinical and business needs of the organization.
