Job Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with Cogito business analysts CBAs and report requesters to understand their data needs

  • Identifying and reviewing the appropriate technological solutions for various reporting needs

  • Creating reports, using a thirdparty report writing tool such as Crystal reports, to display Clarity data

  • Writing SQL for custom SQL metrics

  • Modifying existing reports, as necessary

  • Distributing Clarity reports to report consumers using EpicCrystal integration

  • Reviewing peer reports for validity

  • Testing report build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments

  • Reviewing upgrade documentation related to Clarity features and released Crystal reporting content, and determining how to implement the changes

  • May also be responsible for building:

  • Universes and cubes

  • Extracts

  • SlicerDicer

  • Thirdparty tools WebI/QlikView/Tableau

Required Education, Licensure or Certification:

  • Relevant Epic Certification is required related to their assigned area of Epic Module implementation

  • Degree in engineering, physics, computer sciences, math, information systems, or statistics

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Critical thinking and an analytical mind

  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts

  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience with report writing tools

  • Familiarity with Epic applications and database structure, through training that occurs early in the implementation

  • Ability to gain an indepth understanding of the data model through data model classes geared toward content areas

  • Ability to understand data structures that could benefit the entire reporting environment For financial reporting: Prior experience working with an AR system is desirable, but not required.

  • For clinical reporting: Prior experience working with an EMR system is desirable, but not required.

  • Ideally, BIDs design and write reports based on an indepth knowledge of operational system usage. This level of knowledge requires a deep understanding of system build, end user workflows, and patterns of use. The best BIDs have both the technical skills required to design and write reports and the operational knowledge to help them understand what report consumers need to see.
