Job Description: Job Description for EPI Hot Process Senior Development Engineer NY CREATES is seeking applicants for the position of an EPI Senior Process Development Engineer to work in its 300mm semiconductor development facilities.

This position is responsible for equipment qualification, advanced process development, evaluation, and characterization targeting advanced semiconductor applications down to the 2nm node and beyond. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The candidate will be responsible for the development of epitaxial growth processes and structures, as well as specialty defect and material characterization, in support of R&D efforts for internal and external customers.

The candidate must develop and characterize processes compatible with advance thermal technologies, including Si, SiGe, Ge and doped (Epi) film growth, as well as conventional oxide/nitride films for Front end of line (FEOL) applications. The candidate will lead and contribute to semiconductor hands on fabrication of process development projects to advance new products from concept phase thru manufacturing phase. Thorough equipment and process qualification of new 300mm specific to Front end of materials (FEOL), dielectrics and conductors, alloys and compounds.

Work focuses on tool ownership in some cases and process development through experimental matrices to determine best known methods for deposition of a wide variety of materials. Lot ownership that achieves fast cycles of learning is required. The successful candidate must be able to interface effectively with fab operations, process maintenance, and semiconductor engineering professionals from client companies.

The candidate must execute projects-based tasks that include process development, integration and metrology/characterization of materials working side-by-side with a diverse group of engineers. Report results both internally and externally with presentation and formal report packages. Interact with other engineers in areas of design, growth, fabrication and test to facilitate fabrication and device optimization.

Hot process experience and process development established within 300mm fabrication line. Other reasonable duties as assigned. Requirements: Minimum Requirements for EPI Hot Process Senior Development Engineer B.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 10 years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a Process Development Engineer in one or more areas of metallization technology.

The Candidate must have experience with deposition methods that include all Hot processes, atomic layer deposition (ALD), chemical vapor deposition (CVD), & LPCVD. Candidate must also be familiar with material characterization using analysis from such techniques as XRD, XRF, TEM, EDS, SIMS, Auger, AFM, and thickness/resistance measurements. A good understanding of BEOL and FEOL integration - particularly as related to metal and material schemes - is required.

Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, exhibit solid leadership ability, be familiar with SPC/DOE methodologies, and be willing to execute a variety of tasks on short notice. Good program management and customer interface skills are essential. Knowledge of MS Office, DOE, and yield/defectivity analysis software are strongly recommended.

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS M.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 5 years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a Process Development Engineer in one or more areas of metal deposition technology. Working knowledge of SiView.
