Leidos is seeking a senior level Environmental Occupational Safety & Health (EOSH) Professional to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team.

The position will be supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Services Group for Air Traffic Organization by providing Subject Matter Expertise in execution of the Radiation Safety program.

The position will be in the Washington DC commuting area.

  • 75% Telework
  • 25% Travel

The successful candidate will be familiar with the various FAA organizations, FAA facilities and LOB/SO mission requirements. Interested candidates must be able to demonstrate proficiencies in EOSH-related training,

program development, and EOSH-related program tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert on radiation risk management, exposure assessment and dosimetry.

  • Provide technical expertise to the FAA Radiation Safety Program with program planning, scheduling, prioritization, technical discussions, program review, presentations, and training.

  • Review current, new, and/or proposed radiation safety regulatory requirements. Provide recommendations for updates to FAA radiation safety programs and procedures.

  • Assist FAA in updating applicable policy and/or guidance documents such as FAA Radiation Safety orders and templates.

  • Provide radiation support to team meetings.

  • Document and track action items.

  • Monitor and maintain compliance standards and guidelines.

  • Identify and assess new operations, maintenance activities, and modifications to the work environment that may increase the potential for radiation exposure.

  • Investigate alleged employee radiation exposures by performing measurements of radiation at NAS facilities.

  • Document radiation levels in written reports.

  • Provide logistical support for radiation meters through the design, purchase, acquisition, maintenance, calibration, repair, and replacement of radiation detectors.

  • Provide support for the disposal of low-level radioactive isotopes in accordance with federal regulations established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

  • Review and present current radiation safety training and education in accordance with FAA Facility Instructor Training.

  • Perform extremely low frequency magnetic field surveys for employees with implanted medical devices such as a pacemaker/defibrillator, which is adversely affected by electromagnetic radiation.

  • Provide support, guidance, and training to an FAA employee who submits a Voluntary Pregnancy Declaration to her supervisor.

  • Perform technical analysis and prepare technical and informative reports.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field from a 4-year accredited College/University with 12+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Environmental Occupational Health and Safety laws, regulations, practices, and protocols.

  • Knowledge of radars, Calibration and functions of the Victoreen meter, Ludlum meter, Narda NBM-550 Broadband meter, WaveControl SMP3 meter; and methods for controlling exposure to X-ray and RF radiation.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time and to regularly report to scheduled FAA facilities.

  • Exhibit excellent communication skills to be used in responding to technical questions and performing program presentations.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability status based on client requirements (To be eligible for the FAA Public Trust you must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder who has resided in the US for the past 3 years).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Radiation Protection Technologist (RRPT).

  • Certified Health Physicist (CHP).

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $108,550.00 - $196,225.00
