Responsibilities and Qualifications

Environmental Service Techs are responsible for basic cleaning functions in all areas providing a sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment. Additional responsibilities include stripping and refinishing floors, carpet extraction, operating battery powered carpet extractors, autoscrubbers, floor burnishers, performing heavy lifting task (movement of furniture and equipment), movement of patient furniture, hanging of curtians and drapes and other assigned duties related to the Environmental Services Department. Performs the duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards

Qualifications:

  • Other: Solid written and oral communication skills. Customer Service oriented.

  • Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred Experience: Sanitation, Cleaning or Detail work experience in an institutional (school, hospital or hospitality) setting is preferred.

Establishes goals of occupational therapy and performs reassessments on patient#s progress at regular timely intervals, supporting findings with written documentation. Collaborates with inter-disciplinary team to improve patients outcomes while respecting patients privacy and rights. Directs and supervises interdepartmental supportive personnel in patient treatment and carrying out duties to achieve overall goals of the occupational therapy department in a safe and efficient manner. Participates in inter/intra departmental in-service education and quality improvement programs developed by the rehab services department. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited OT program. License to practice in the State of Arkansas, by the Arkansas State Medical Board / Arkansas State Occupational Therapy Examining Committee and Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Per AR Medical Practices Acts and Regulations for Occupational Therapists, an exception is made for those who have completed all requirements from the AR State Medical Board for obtaining temporary licensure status, who are able to practice in association with a licensed OT, and are following guidelines toward achieving NBCOT certification. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE: Previous OT experience preferred but not required. Must possess good communication and customer service skills. CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, BONDING: License to practice in the State of Arkansas, by the Arkansas State Medical Board / Arkansas State Occupational Therapy Examining Committee. Certification NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy). Per AR Medical Practices Acts and Regulations for Occupational Therapists, an exception is made for those who have completed all requirements from the AR State Medical Board for obtaining temporary licensure status, who are able to practice in association with a licensed OT, and are following guidelines toward achieving NBCOT certification. Current BLS certification or obtained within one month of employment * In the event of any disciplinary action by AR Board or National Association is anticipated, or if a lapse in licensure is expected, employee must immediately notify the Director of Rehab Services Department. PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a clean, well lit, air conditioned environment. Will spend most of shift using computer, walking, exercising, lifting, and transferring patients. Must be able to statically lift, push/pull for assisting safe patient mobility. Also includes physical ability for twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, etc., in the movement of patients.
