We support the incorporation of Indigenous perspectives and worldviews with western science-based practices, projects, and environmental management.Responsibilities

  • Work independently and with teams of Social and Environmental Specialists on a variety of projects, across multiple sectors with a broad range of clients;
  • Contribute to the planning, organization, and delivery of stakeholder and Indigenous engagement or consultation activities;
  • Build on your experience working with Indigenous communities to enhance and deliver a variety of Hatfield’s social and environmental technical services;
  • Take initiative to identify engagement opportunities and provide strategies to identify and engage in successful relationships;
  • Support the respectful incorporation of Indigenous knowledge where appropriate
  • Assist with research design, implementation, and analysis;
  • Support preparation of proposals; and
  • Contribute to networking and business development.
Education and ExperienceThe successful candidate will have strong communication and technical skills and a passion for learning. We are particularly interested in candidates who are strategic thinkers with a deep interest and/or experience in:
  • Indigenous interests, relationship building, and engagement;
  • Indigenous knowledge studies;
  • Land-use, natural resource and/or community planning;
  • Regulatory aspects of Indigenous consultation and engagement;
  • Master’s degree or equivalent of lived or work experience in social science or related experience in the field of natural sciences;
  • A strong understanding of systemic issues faced by Indigenous communities, reconciliation, inclusion and equity, and Indigenous governance;
  • Experience in Indigenous engagement, working with Indigenous communities, and/or natural resource management;
  • Excellent oral communication skills (e.g., networking, meeting and presentation facilitation);
  • Technical ability preparing and delivering research that includes data collection, compilation and analysis; and
  • Excellent skills in technical report writing and other forms of written documentation.
