The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist with the Office of Emergency Response (OER) at our Groveport Field Office.

As environmental specialist, you'll be part of OER's Emergency Response Program responding to and investigating releases of hazardous materials or liquids into the environment. You'll identify the parties responsible and activate and oversee work of emergency response contractors to contain and remediate the release as required under state law to protect the public and environment.
You'll coordinate environmental response activities with the responsible parties and other Ohio EPA divisions, government agencies and response organizations to ensure remedial actions are clear and completed. You'll provide technical assistance to the regulated community, consultants, and governmental officials regarding applicable federal and state laws and regulations. As needed, you'll participate in enforcement meetings, litigation proceedings, and negotiations for Ohio EPA and the Ohio Attorney General.

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE EMPLOYEE TO WEAR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, SPECIFICALLY A FULL-FACE AIR PURIFYING RESPIRATOR (APR) AND SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS (SCBA) IF POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS ARE ENCOUNTERED. THE SCBA WITH CYLINDER WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 35 LBS.
