The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Surface Water (DSW), located at our Central Office in Franklin County.

As Ohio EPA's environmental specialist, you will respond to citizen inquiries and respond to and investigate complaints involving potential impacts to streams, lakes, and wetlands. You will also perform inspections and report results, issuing necessary correspondence related to inspections and investigations and tracking the status of complaints, violations, and enforcement cases related to the 401/Wetland Section. You will work with attorneys to prepare cases for trial, testifying as needed. You will evaluate applications for Section 401 water quality certification, isolated wetland permits, and related projects to determine environmental impact and to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and Ohio EPA policy.
You will collect data and conduct field work related to Section 401 and isolated wetland projects, coordinating compilation of the data, and representing the Agency in negotiations at meetings, hearings and conferences involving Section 401 Program activities. Additionally, you will review, recommend, and implement changes to state regulations regarding the Section 401 Program. You will assist in the development and implementation of program policies relating to the protection of Ohio's surface water resources, providing technical guidance for government agencies and others on the Section 401 program. Lastly, you will prepare periodic and special reports summarizing the progress and effectiveness of Section 401 activities, while also maintaining Section 401 records and files.
