  • The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW) at our laboratory in Licking County.

  • As an environmental specialist, you'll evaluate laboratories for compliance with state and federal regulations for analysis of public water. Based on the evaluation, you'll determine certification of the surveyed facility based upon its extent of compliance with the state's Drinking Water Laboratory Certification Program. You'll schedule laboratory surveys to be conducted throughout the state and prepare survey reports, certificates, and other correspondence.

As subject expert, you'll provide technical assistance to laboratory staff on operation of equipment used for drinking water analysis. You'll help prepare and present information at meetings of the regulated industry and respond to agency personnel, local health departments, and drinking water testing laboratories on questions concerning laboratory procedures, methods, and quality control.

  • Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field or mathematics.

Note: New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
