Las Palmas Medical Center is a Level III Trauma, 186-private patient room, full service acute care hospital. Las Palmas Medical Center offers comprehensive healthcare and provides leading-edge technologies. Our Lifecare Center offers inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs, as well as our fully equipped fitness and wellness center in one convenient location. We also house the region's only Kidney Transplant Center.

We are located on the Westside of El Paso, Texas close to the University of Texas El Paso campus. We provide exceptional patient care services to the El Paso and Fort Bliss communities, as well as Southern New Mexico and West Texas Regions.


Under supervision, cleans and maintains assigned areas in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. Ensures that these activities are performed and in accordance with local codes, legislation, JCAHO guidelines and all regulatory requirements, and facility policies and procedures.



  • Sets up carts with all supplies and equipment according to specifications.

  • Knowledge in the 7-step procedure in cleaning a room -empty trash, high dust, damp wipe, dry mop, damp mop, cleans restrooms finally inspect room to assure everything was done to patient satisfaction.

  • Knowledge of cleaning of stairwells, elevators, baseboards, water fountains, wall washing, windows, furniture and working equipment.

  • Knowledge of various types of project work such as stripping and waxing of floors, shampooing of carpets and furniture, spray buffing of floors.

  • Wears appropriate protective equipment and or clothing in cleaning of an Isolation room, O.R. or other areas as necessary.

  • Attends all training sessions and meetings as scheduled

  • Responds to requests from patients, physicians and visitors in a courteous and efficient manner, always demonstrates positive interpersonal skills.

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Knowledge in all floor machines used in the Hospital, (scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractor and vacuum cleaners)

  • Knowledge in chemicals.

  • Experience in stripping and waxing of floor tile.

  • One-year experience in a general housekeeping environment.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years experience in environmental services in a health care setting.

  • Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques related to the requirements for effective cleaning, sanitation, and maintaining aesthetic condition of the assigned facility.

  • Knowledge of work-related occupational hazards and proper safety precautions.

  • Knowledge of techniques and practices of work standards, techniques, and general practices necessary to comply with JCAHO requirements.

  • Ability to guide and direct others in the completion of assigned tasks and through effective communication, motivate and secure the cooperation of assigned staff.

Senior Living Environmental Services Assistant Location: 8150 - GSS White Acres 7304 Good Samaritan Ct El Paso, Texas, 79912-1602 United States Employment Type: Temporary / Seasonal Hourly: 9.00 - 10.00 Shift: Day Job Summary This position is responsible for repairs and preventive maintenance on facility, equipment, grounds and vehicles. Laundry and housekeeping duties are included. Performs preventive maintenance on facility and equipment. Completes repairs as needed/requested. Keeps various work and storage rooms, garage/ shed, tools and supplies organized and clean. Keeps building and grounds free of garbage and debris. Paints, patches or repairs all interior surfaces. Assures all floor surfaces are clean and appropriately finished. Paints and maintains all exterior building surfaces and window frames. Maintains lawn and exterior plantings. Maintains furniture, lighting, flags, and signs. Keeps sidewalks and parking lots well-marked, free of debris, snow and ice. Assists with requested maintenance on location vehicles. Follows routine housekeeping and laundering schedules. Follows special cleaning procedures as assigned and necessary, including discharge cleaning and isolation cleaning. Assists with cleaning resident rooms, bathrooms, work areas, and other public areas. Prepares and launders soiled linen and clothing; folds and distributes clean linens. Cleans and disinfects folding area, linen trucks and personal delivery carts daily; cleans and disinfects washers and dryers. Completes documentation on appropriate forms as assigned. Completes quality improvement audits and participate in task forces and location care conferences as assigned. Keep chemicals secured in locked area as per policy. Demonstrates safe and proper techniques for chemical use and equipment. Follows SDS guidelines for any exposure. Adheres to OSHA and CDC guidelines to minimize infections by following aseptic cleaning techniques, including those that apply to blood borne pathogens. Qualifications Prior work experience of one to two years required. One year general building/equipment maintenance experience is preferred. VoTech education in Plumbing, HVAC, Electrician or Carpentry is preferred. Ability to measure and comprehend quantities.
