  • Assigns tasks to employees and inspects completed work for conformance to standards.

  • Resolves employees' problems or refers matters to EVS Manager, Director of Patient Support or Human Resources.

  • Gains knowledge of employees' strengths and weaknesses.

  • Monitors employee breaks and lunches for time allowance compliance.

  • Studies production schedules and estimates time required for completion of job assignment.

  • Interprets company policies for employees and enforces safety regulations.

  • Interprets work orders for employees and assigns duties

  • Initiates or suggests plan to motivate employees to achieve work goals.

EVS Leads will assist cleaning techs when needed by:

  • Wearing proper PPE

  • Following proper lifting, pushing, pulling techniques

  • Able to use ladders to clean light fixtures, vents, and change cubicle curtains

  • Vacuuming

  • Ability to operate walk behind or riding floor scrubber

  • Sweeping, dry or wet mopping public and private areas

  • Properly high and low dusting

  • Taking proper care of department equipment, cleaning EVS cleaning carts, equipment & closets and insuring they are stocked properly

  • Will handle soiled linen, trash, and biohazard appropriately

  • Able to properly clean assigned areas to department expectations

  • Able to operate trash compactor and box crusher

  • Able to clean spills containing blood or bodily fluids

  • Able to deliver biohazard trash, pharmaceutical waste, and sharps containers to storage areas, label and tape boxes and prepare for pickup

  • Able to clean hazardous spills as trained

  • Complete other duties as assigned

EVS Leads will assist Cleaning Tech 4s:

  • Competency in Cleaning the OR between cases

  • Competency in "end of day" cleaning of the OR

  • Competency in wet mopping or machine scrubbing in the surgery area, offices, hallways, and entries as appropriate (OR Specific) and Non-OR surgical area (Cath Lab, CTU, Endo)

  • Assists in cleaning OR equipment that is used and return it to storage area if necessary

EVS Leads will assign work to and assist Cleaning Tech 5s:

  • Extracting carpet, spot cleaning carpet, machine scrubbing hard floors, stripping hard floors and baseboards, buffing / burnishing hard floors, applying finish to hard floors, use of all powered and un-powered equipment

  • Adjusts schedule to accommodate project work being done - hours of day and break times, lifting and moving equipment, exam tables, etc., maintain prolonged kneeling and bending when working on edges and baseboards during project work, Cleans equipment used in daily work tasks

Patient Flow/Work Process Management:

1.Assigns and check work per shift/day to establish benchmark

a. Communicates daily activities to other Leads and Managerb. Communicates daily with nursing staff to facilitate appropriate cleaning and signage in relation to the type of patient - regular and infectiousc. Communicates with staff and managers of all departments in completion of daily activities

2.Uses problem solving skills

a. Rearrange work schedules of staff daily to meet customer needsb. Works with other departments to meet needs of those customersc. Assists in "project" decisions in hospital construction

3.Layout/design as they relate to completed project

4.Staffing to clean the area for occupancy5. Handles supply needs related to new construction projects6. Decisions regarding furniture, draperies, blinds, fixtures, flooring, dispensers, usable (paper, soaps, sharps, gloves) and their placement7. Work with engineering to get items repaired/replaced identified during construction

Resource and Revenue Enhancement Use

1.Assigns staff per established benchmarks2. Assures charges are entered per established department standards3. Identifies and resolves issues within scope of responsibility or involves Manager/Director

1.Identifies and resolves process or service problems/issues on a real time basis2. Models behavior for meeting/exceeding performance targets

a. Interviews and/or assists in interview of potential employees - using applicant trackingb. Orients new employees to daily department routine, i.e. routine cleaning and chemicals, time clock, absence reporting, paging system, and ET requests. (using department Orientation Program)c. Assures competency of staff - including annual testingd. Assures annual Net Learning is completed by all staffe. Ongoing training of employees and new employees to routine, chemical, and assigned work routines and appropriate competency.

3.Implements organizational strategies to achieve desired customer service outcomes

a. Schedules staff - regular days off and earned time requests to meet the needs of the hospital, department, and employees from own team.b. Assures our department functions on an everyday basisc. Assigns daily/routine cleaning projectsd. Monitors daily assignments to be sure employee knows responsibility, cleans according to established procedures and completes assignmente. Rearrange work schedules of staff daily to meet customer needsf. Works with other departments to meet needs of those customersg. Ensures that staff have the tools and products needed to do their job, right time - right place

  • Expereince in supervision or leading teams

  • Knowledge of computers

  • Microsoft Excel and Word - and programs in order to perform job functions.
  • Available for overtime and weekends for additional coverage when needed.
