Position Requirements:


High School diploma or equivalent preferred. A#minimum of one year of experience in housekeeping is preferred. Be able to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic computer skills required: email, eLearning, Ipad, Vocera, and pagers.# Able to work independently and#as a member of a multidisciplinary team, handling fluctuating workloads.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Performs daily tasks in ancillary / clinical areas, initiates correct technique in all areas of expertise. Responds to requests for service/tasks and logs request as necessary or required to maintain.

2.Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.

3.Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, and clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner. Completes work assignments in a timely manner.

4.Assures the cleanliness of the campus.

5.Cleans, dusts, disinfects, polishes furniture, equipment and beds as necessary.

6.Follows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.

7.Performs monthly cycle cleaning such as restroom floors, both in public and patient areas.

8.Cleans and maintains equipment closets, and areas of assignment. Maintains par levels in chemicals, paper and linen supplies within carts and closets. Replenishes supplies, utilizes the appropriate chemical and supplies according to procedure.

9.Completes all cleaning and preparation of discharged units as applicable.



  1. Collects, removes as required and transports refuse and/or clean and soiled linens, cleans, sorts and relines containers with appropriate plastic liners or disinfects as necessary.

  2. Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors. Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.

  3. Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. Maintains and ensures age-specific precautions. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

  4. Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with personnel and medical staff and other departments within the Medical Center Campus.

  5. Maintains the highest possible quality standards in facilities. Assists in training new staff as required.

  6. Participates in all in-service lectures and meetings as well as self development programs and activities.

  7. Treats each patient, visitor and employee with compassion and courtesy. Maintains good public relations with all customers.

  8. Communicates with Environmental Services Manager/Area Leader on any suggestions or problems they may have. Instills a positive attitude by demonstrating enthusiasm and team spirit for all areas.

  9. Works within the structure of campus and Environmental Services Department policies, procedures, missions, and philosophies.

  10. Seeks out areas that require cleaning and takes imitative to complete to complete the task.

  11. Understands and strives to meet the needs of all customers: identifies all customers, anticipates customer needs, and initiates action to meet and/or exceed those needs.
