SUMMARY OF WORK:

As an Environmental Scientist for the Solid Waste Management Program, you will be responsible for the general implementation of the solid waste program for an assigned region and facilities including permit reviews and permit writing; technical evaluation of facilities, systems, operations, and equipment to determine compliance with environmental control laws, regulations, and policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

DEQ will not provide sponsorships. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DEQ participates in E-Verify.

DEQ is attempting to fill this position at the Environmental Scientist II level but reserves the right to underfill the position as an Environmental Scientist I.

To be considered for an Environmental Scientist II, you must have a bachelor's degree in natural or physical science with emphasis in biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, or closely related field and two years of related experience. DEQ Hiring Range

  • Environmental Scientist II is $4,971 / month.

To be considered for an Environmental Scientist I, you must have a bachelor's degree in natural or physical science with emphasis in biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, or closely related field. DEQ Hiring Range

  • Environmental Scientist I is $4,163 / month.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in solid waste management, landfill design, soil science, geology, or hydrology is helpful but not required.
