Overview
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation seeks a stormwater professional, or environmental professional in a related or similar field with relevant educational and technical experience, and excellent communication skills to join the Operational Permitting Section within the Watershed Management Division's Stormwater Program, which administers permitting for the discharge of stormwater runoff from regulated impervious surfaces.
The primary responsibilities of the incumbent will be to conduct operational permit application review within the Operational Permitting Section of the Stormwater Program and includes the following major duties:
Conduct technical review of stormwater treatment systems and design for operational permit applications as assigned by the section supervisor.
Ensure compliance with applicable stormwater regulations for assigned projects within assigned regional district, or as otherwise assigned, by conducting site inspections, as necessary to support program compliance and inspection goals.
Provide technical assistance to permit applicants, the engineering and consulting community, the regulated community, and the general public, regarding operational stormwater permit regulations.
Preferred Qualifications include:
Environmental science/engineering background, with knowledge of the principles specific to post-construction stormwater management, including but not limited to stormwater hydrology and modeling.
Experience with post-construction stormwater management, including but not limited to familiarity with site plan review and field experience.
Experience with interpretation and application of environmental regulations.
Excellent communication skills and public relations skills.
As of July 14, 2024 the step 1 rate for pay grade 22 will be $25.10 per hour.
