The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Assist in developing, drafting and updating state regulation and in advancing regulations through the established process. Conduct public meetings and workshops, taking minutes of meetings.
Work on special projects that help the objective of the Bureaus long and short term goals. Monitor RCRA EPA grants and submit authorizations and applications. Coordinate and prepare the approval of contracts, review and approve contract invoices.
Track state and federal solid and hazardous waste issues daily and distribute federal register notices. Assist with developing and monitoring the bureau biennial budget.
