We are currently seeking a Mid-level Environmental Scientist/Risk Assessor to support a wide variety of environmental projects. The preferred candidates will have experience conducting human health and ecological risk assessments at Superfund and other contaminated sites, preparing planning documents and data quality objectives, managing environmental data and performing database queries, data manipulation and interpretation, and preparing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. The preferred candidate will have experience interacting with regulatory agencies to present human health and ecological risk assessments, experience developing risk assessments of a variety of chemicals (organic, inorganic, radiological), and experience with risk assessment and communication with emerging contaminants.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
Working on a team under the supervision of a qualified professional, prepare risk assessment studies for contaminated sites, including development of planning documents and data quality objectives, evaluating data quality, preparing calculations and assessments using conventional and novel approaches, and preparing written reports.
Reviewing draft assessments and calculations for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidance.
Working on a variety of assignments, which may include field studies, research investigations, data interpretation and evaluation, or report preparation.
Ensuring that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments.
Independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Using professional judgment and knowledge of principles/techniques in making adaptations and modifications.
Developing external client interaction and marketing skills.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with field data collection to support risk assessment at contaminated sites.
Knowledge of the CERCLA process and experience performing risk assessment work for Federal clients desired.
Experience with data management using Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, EQuIS, and/or EPA's Scribe software.
Experience in data evaluation and report preparation for environmental assessment, remediation, field investigations.
