Job Description:

Arcadis is currently seeking an Environmental Planner to support a large utility infrastructure maintenance project in the Bay Area (San Francisco, CA or Concord, CA). This full-time position will require strict adherence to health and safety procedures, strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a passion for high quality workmanship.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Under supervision of senior-level staff, assisting in leading a regionally-focused multi-disciplinary team of scientists (i.e., biologists, cultural resources specialists, etc.), l coordination with land rights specialists, and customer relations and government relations professionals to achieve specifically defined project goals and objectives

  • Effectively and efficiently managing desktop environmental assessments using GIS and other available methods to address potential permitting requirements.

  • Conducting field reviews and site visits with other technical specialists, engineers, and construction personnel

Key Attributes:

  • A firm understanding of state and federal permit threshold requirements

  • Ability to understand elementary land rights (easements, process to acquire temporary rights, etc.) information and issues

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills

  • Team oriented, but ability to work independently and be self-directed given clear goals and objectives

  • Valid driver's license

  • Willingness to travel overnight in California from 2 to 4 times per month

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field

  • 0-2 years of experience in the environmental field

  • Knowledge of California and federal permit requirements

  • Experience preparing CEQA and NEPA documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the planning, permitting, and/or supporting the construction, reconstruction or maintenance of electric or gas transmission facilities, or other similar type of infrastructures (i.e., water, sewer, oil and gas, etc.)
  • Previous experience with linear utility infrastructure programs

Do you want to be part of a hardworking team where you would have a voice?</p><p>We are seeking a highly motivated senior or staff scientist with validated expertise in biologics drug discovery to be a member of the Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering group at Alector. You will closely work with dynamic and motivated teams to drive Alector’s early discovery efforts for unmet medical needs in neurodegeneration and cancer. Expertise in phage display, library design, construction and screening is preferred. Hands-on experience and knowledge in b-cell cloning, hybridoma sequencing, protein expression, purification and/or characterization would be valuable. You should have a proven track record in demonstrating creativity, taking initiative and ability in influencing at all levels, both up and across. You will lead and participate in project teams, chip in pipeline strategy and help build creative approaches to discover and optimize antibody-based bio-therapeutics development. You should be able to thrive in a highly dynamic and encouraging yet independently thinking culture. You are expected to be pragmatic with complex science and procedures. You will need to be highly efficient in collaborating with internal team members and external partners.</p>During the first year, your goals will include: <ul> <li>Therapeutic antibody lead selection by phage display panning of human antibody libraries</li> <li>Affinity maturation / optimization of antibody and fusion protein lead molecules</li> <li>Implementation / development of state of the art antibody engineering technologies to enable first-in-class and best-in class bio-therapeutic molecules</li> <li>Molecular cloning, PCR, mutagenesis, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, FACS</li> <li>Protein / antibody expression in bacteria and mammalian cells</li> <li>Protein purification</li> </ul><p>It would be a plus if you have hands-on experience in the following areas: </p><ul> <li>Immunized phage or yeast library generation</li> <li>Yeast display and/or other display methods</li> <li>Single B-cell cloning</li> <li>Bi- and multi-specific antibody engineering</li> </ul><p>At Alector, we believe that high-performing teams include people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences who can challenge each other’s assumptions with fresh perspectives and bring creative ideas to the table.
