Overview:
The Environmental Safety and Health Manager will have primary responsibility for administration, maintenance, and operation of Health and Safety and Emergency response programs for Veeco. This is a hands-on role that will assure employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and support of corporate objectives in a semi-conductor manufacturing environment. The position is located in our Somerset, NJ location but will support additional locations in Horsham, PA and Plainview, NY. The Manager is responsible for administering Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Management, and Risk Management programs; for implementing, managing, and continuously improving practices, policies, and programs that enhance the environmental health and safety of our staff and public; mitigate risks, and meet changing regulatory demands for the coordination of all risk management activities, to ensure proper and adequate protection for Veeco. Reporting to the Senior Director, Real Estate/EHS, responsibilities will be carried out in collaboration with all departments including production, facilities, project management and local state, and federal agencies, as appropriate. This position has a high degree of autonomy and must operate in a complex environment. It requires an understanding of the strategic mission, goals, and objectives of a technology-based company.
Responsibilities:
Design and present employee training, as needed, on applicable regulations and EHS topics
Program administrator for respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, and ergonomics
Provide oversight of site emergency response operations and emergency communications, including training, equipment maintenance and compliance records
Participate in project reviews and provide safety consultation, as needed, for equipment installations and work process instructions
Serve as a plant resource for practices, programs, and analysis/resolution of issues in the fields of industrial safety, security and emergency response which may include complex analysis or solutions
Ensure regulatory compliance with all Federal & State OSHA, DOT, state, and local health/safety regulations
Manage the hazardous waste program and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Assist in the design and implementation of new EHS strategies, programs, polices and training based on industry standards
Perform Process Hazard Analysis evaluations and Job Hazard Analysis
Create and maintain a regulatory compliance register for each location, report gaps and develop corrective actions
Deliver safety reporting and Key Performance Indicators (e.g. Accident Reporting and Investigation, Safety Work Orders, and Near Misses)
Other duties as assigned
20% travel to local Veeco locations (Horsham, PA and Plainview, NY)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or a related field with 8+ years of experience or a Master's Degree and 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing, chemical or R&D environment is required as is strong knowledge of environmental regulatory reporting requirements. EH&S professional certification(s) (CSP, CIH, ASP) a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the technical fundamentals of safety and environmental risk assessments and reduction including machinery & process safety, industrial hygiene, fire prevention, industrial ergonomics and environmental controls
Experience supporting semiconductor/manufacturing fab operations with similar risks is a plus
Working knowledge of SEMI and NFPA fire protection standards; EH&S regulations including but not limited to OSHA, DEP and EPA
Experience with EH&S Program Implementation, inspection practices, incident investigation, Hazard/Risk Assessments and EHS Training
Familiar with Fire Protection and Security Systems, Incident Response and Command Activities, Environmental Controls, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic Evaluations
Ability to effectively and cooperatively interface with peers and colleagues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good presentation skills, team interaction and project organizing
Excellent MS Office skills and other related business software applications
Knowledge of OSHA and ISO 14001 management systems

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - 128,000 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
