This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau.
Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.
Anchorage salary: $2,799.75
Fairbanks salary: $2,883.75
Juneau salary: $2,940.00
What you will be doing:
This position is in the Air Non- Point and Mobile Sources Program with the Division of Air Quality. This position takes a lead role in drafting the control strategies and emission inventory sections for State Implementation Plans. This position works closely with technical modeling staff and must have working knowledge of how to process the emission inventory through Sparse Matrix Operator Kernel Emissions Model (SMOKE), along with working knowledge of the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model.

The Air Non- Point and Mobile Sources Program is responsible for measuring and mitigating mobile and area sources of air contaminants to achieve ambient air quality standards in order to protect public health and the environment. This position is instrumental in quantifying air emissions, developing policy based on findings, and understanding impacts on Alaskans.

This position can be located in Department of Environmental Conservation's Anchorage, Juneau, or Fairbanks offices, based on applicant preferences. All office locations are downtown, near many restaurants and businesses. This position is comprised of primarily office duties, with opportunities for learning excursions. The office environment is friendly and flexible, with opportunities for telework.
We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following areas:
Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information
Manages and Organizes Information: Identifies a need; gathers, organizes, and maintains information; determines its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods
Research: Knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.
IT Modeling and Simulation: Knowledge of mathematical modeling and simulation tools and techniques to plan and conduct test and evaluation programs, characterize systems support decisions involving requirements, evaluate design alternatives, or support operational preparation.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the following competencies
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources.
AND
Professional experience evaluating, documenting, and monitoring environmental and socio-economic impacts of changes in the built environment or applying environmental regulations and pollution controls for damage recovery or to protect or improve environmental quality.
