Anchorage salary: $32.62 hourly
Fairbanks salary: $33.60 hourly
Juneau salary: $34.25 hourly
What you will be doing:
The Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Water is recruiting for an Environmental Program Specialist (EPS) 3 position in the Compliance Program. You will work in the Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) Enforcement Section with a committed team of dedicated and experienced environmental professionals to make a difference in protecting water quality, human health, and the environment. The position assists in developing, negotiating, finalizing, and tracking civil Clean Water Act/ APDES enforcement actions to bring responsible parties into compliance in collaboration with the Alaska Department of Law.

The Division of Water Enforcement Section is staffed with dedicated, hard working professionals in an environment of camaraderie.
This position works with responsible parties, inspectors, APDES permitting, funding, engineering staff, and the Department of Law to develop, negotiate, finalize, and track formal enforcement actions. Formal enforcement contributes to the Division of Water's success in implementing the APDES program.

The working environment you can expect:
The work environment of this position will be primarily in an office setting with infrequent travel necessary. The position is being recruited in the Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau locations. The normal day-to-day of the position will require coordination with other sections within the Division of Water, other Departments such as the Department of Law, or Federal, City, and State agencies as well as the regulated community in the context of enforcement of their permits.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the following competencies
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources.
AND
Professional experience developing knowledge and skills in environmental regulations, pollution control, environmental damage recovery, or programs to improve or protect environmental quality; or learning to evaluate the potential environmental and socio-economic impacts of construction projects; prepare environmental documentation; and determine, negotiate, and monitor permitted activities.
